AKJ Toronto has scheduled a program at the Sikh Lehar Centre (see below, pasted from http://www.akj.org/skins/one/programs.php?...mp;city=Toronto )

Jul 05 2009 to

Jul 05 2009 Akhand Keertan

5:00 PM to 8:30 PM

Gurooduaaraa Saheb-Sikh Lehar Center

79 Bramsteele Rd., Brampton, Ontario, L6W3K6

Please click here for the directions...

For more information please call 905.451.3335 or 416.616.4882

The Sikh Lehar Centre opposes Sri Dasam Granth, Dasam Banis and even key Gurmat concepts like naam simran and nitnem.

On the Sikh Lehar Centre website at http://www.sikhlehar.com/, you can see they have posted audio files of prominent anti-Dasam Granth and neo-Sikh activist Inder Ghagga. Ghagaa was recently in the news for having created a new ardaas in Finland. There are also recordings of Prof. Darshan Singh, another anti-Dasam Granth spokesperson. At the opening of the Sikh Lehar Centre, Veer Bhupinder Singh another reformist neo-Sikh who has attempted to change the Anand Kaaraj ceremony was invited to do kirtan.

It is a shame that AKJ Toronto has taken this step. Having a program at a Gurdwara with clear links to the Kala Afghana ideology is unacceptable and a disgrace to the name Akhand Kirtani Jatha. Organizing a program at the Sikh Lehar Centre amounts support to supporting the Kala Afghana ideology.

The AKJ Toronto group does not represent the ideology of the Akhand Kirtani Jatha. Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh never opposed Sri Dasam Granth and in fact often provided references from it. Bhai Sahib and his companions included numerous banis from Dasam Bani in their nitnem including banis like Akaal Ustat Gian Prabodh, and Chandi Di Vaar. For a list of Bhai Sahib's references to Dasam Bani, please see http://www.akhandkirtanijatha.org/literatu...GranthSahib.pdf.

The organizers at AKJ Toronto should be contacted by the Sangat and urged to cancel this program. Attending a program at the Sikh Lehar Centre amounts to supporting the Kala Afghana cause and should therefore be avoided.

I totally agree,

even more controversy, this years smagam is being held at the old Rexdale a gurghar, a place where the sangat chose and donated millions to turn it into a funeral home for the community. Now that a new commitee is in place at the old rexdale gurdwara they have used the money from the sangat (in millions) which was intended to renuvate the gurghar into a funeral home. That is why a new gurghar was made down the street so there can be a funeral home and a gurghar near each other.

this comitee has daringly been getting dodra and akj smagams to be held so that the sangat can forget about what is happening and are ignoring the facts that millions of sangats money has been lost or has been used for a cause in which it wasnt intended for.

But its understandable , we are sikhs and are to be doing kirtan and lahaa of sangat. But this type of stupid behavior needs to stop. It starts with these big sikh factions to step up to the plate and do their research before booking programs. If they do, then the 'true' sangat will follow.

So akj has some people that do not believe in Dasam bani. What effect bani will have on sangat when it is

being read at a place where managment is naastic.

interesting..... the akj toronto sangat read akaal ustatt to my knowledge, it seems this mite be a deliberate post to cuase a pointless friction, because the keertanees doing seva at toronto smagam, have been banned from california. This is total nonsense. The Akhand Keertanee Jatha is under the Khalsa Panth, and with Guru Jees Grace pratice Gur-Hukams such as Simran, Banee, Keertan and Strict Rehat, like every other jathabandee, Gursikh etc. We have to make a oocha sucha jeevan, but these nasty conflicts dont get use anywhere.

Recently Gursikhs done a camp at a caste based Guru Ghar, does this mean they follow caste?

Please prove that AKJ Toronto or Worldwide are totally against Siree Dasam Granth Jee. In my view it's nonsense.

THE HISTORY AND COMPILATION OF THE DASM GRANTH

By DR TRILOCHAN SINGH (1919-1993)

Dr. Trilochan Singh, M.A., D.Litt, was a close associate of Bhai Sahib Randhir Singh Ji. He translated several works of Bhai Randhir Singh (at his personal request) including Jail Chitthian and Amrit Ki Hai. The following 4 articles on The History and Compilation of the Dasm Granth were initially published in The Sikh Review from April through July 1955.This is the AKJ Stance because Bhai Randhir Singh approved the book

If the sevadaars are unaware then please contact them at akj@unforgettable.com, to let them know wot the lehar centre is all about

Singh ji

What is meant by akj worldwide?

What do you mean by totally against? Are you saying that they believe in some banis and others not? That is blaspemic view.

So that may be the reason for not allowing them to do kirtan. That does not mean they should go to a heretic and anti sikh place o do kirtan.

It is a fact that Babbars from Germany invited darshan singh last year to spew venom against dasma Granth. Your post supports that.

Having a program at the Kala-Afghana ideology-associated Sikh Lehar Centre, which very clearly on their website have recordings of Ghagga, Prof. Darshan Singh and Veer Bhupinder, is shameful.

I'm sure many members of the AKJ sangat in Toronto do believe in Dasam Bani and include them in their nitnem. The purpose of this post is to alert them as to the actions of the organizers of AKJ Toronto programs. Organizers of AKJ Toronto have already done kirtan at the Sikh Lehar Centre in the past, sharing stage time with the likes of Veer Bhupinder on the opening day. But now they have scheduled a program during a time when many of the international sangat is in Toronto for the annual smagam. The sangat needs to be informed of what the Sikh Lehar Centre is and what it stands for.

Having a program at a Centre which opposes Dasam Bani and such key concepts like Naam Simran and Nitnem is unacceptable.

The name 'Akhand Kirtani Jatha' has a great significance in the Panth. It means something. Associating that name with the neo-Sikh Ghagga type of ideology is unacceptable. If the organizers wanted to have a kirtan at the Centre, that would be their unfortunate decision, but when they do it under the name Akhand Kirtani Jatha, then they've made it a much broader issue which cannot be ignored.

The kirtan at the Sikh Lehar Centre has been removed from the programs section.

It remains to be seen whether it was to mislead the sangat or the prabhandak's have really cancelled the program for tonight.

I do hope its the latter.

On a side note.

Gurdev Singh from Australia sang a shabad from Dasam Bani during Friday morning keertan and he was not given any time to do keertan in the evening. And on Saturday when he did keertan again from dasam bani, the prabhandak's of AKJ Toronto actually got up walked away and sat at the back of the hall.

They are willing to go to such lengths to discourage anyone from doing keertan of dasam bani. This is unacceptable behaviour and prabhandaks should be held accountable.

You should get your facts straight. The gurdwara was not goign to be turned into a funeral home. In fact, 19% of the building would have been used to store dead bodies and the other 81% would have remained a gurdwara. Never in our history, has a funeral home and a gurdwara been in the same building. In fact - guru sahib doesnt give any importance to dead bodies. Also, they wanted to raise a black nishan sahib at the gurdwara with 19% space zoned for dead bodies - which also has no basis.

Anyways, some of the sangat that is now helping operate Old Rexdale, even offered those that wanted to convert 19% of it into a funeral home land in brampton for free to build a funeral home, or offered to build it themselves at their own cost at a different site - aslong as a gurdwara and funeral home were not mixed... those that wanted to turn it into a funeral home refused.

Peoples intentions become clear once you learn the facts. The intentions of the funeral home crowd was to promote themselves with no regard to Gurusahib's satkaar. If they wanted a funeral home so bad, they could have had one free of cost at another site, but they only wanted a funeral home inside a gurdwara.

If you don't believe what I have said, please check with the City of Toronto and check the zoning and the Ontario Municipal Board's decision on the matter - where only 19% of the buildign was to be a funeral home and the other 81% had to stay a gurdwara and guru sahib was going to remain parkash.

I don't think people know this.

The Sikh Lehar Centre is newly built. Built near 3 other Gurdwaras.. why would you build one?

None of the founders of the Gurdwara are amritdhari. Two are known drug dealers. One being the owner of Millenium Tire Centre.. yes the one who drive around his tricked out white Hummer.

They've built this "Gurdwara" as a way to clean out their black money. "Donations" given to the Gurdwara clear out the money they make of their illegal activities. I'm not just some kid chatting rubbish.. my Dad knows the guy very well. The Punjabi community knows all to well about this guy and what he's been doing. So please don't be alarmed when you hear about Anti-Sikh parchaar happening at this "Gurdwara". Have a sense of peace knowing that its just another place run by drug merchants.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
