Coconut jhatka. Just another innovation. It will not help one's spiritual progress in anyway

These are just our rituals just like- lighting jots/incense, having cocunut in akhand patt, doing kirpan bheta of bhog parsad, washing darbar sahib with milk, sarovar ishnan, shastar ishan, shastar namaskar, naam jhapiya- hugs, khanda kharkouna etc etc etc. The rituals itself are not empty, but the person perception while performing the rituals define the status if rituals are empty or not..!!

While I agree, I still think we shouldn't focus on rituals as much, but more on what Gurbani tells us. If we apply the Gurbani whatever satkar and respect will follow.

Understanding Gurbani and developing real love for Guru Sahib then doing such things because without understanding why we do certain things we will turn into Hindus. Ask a Hindu today why they wear their janou and the 12 tilak and all these things and they won't be able to answer why.

We're going through an internal struggle right now. Some people like to develop the outward appearance of a Sikh and even more do empty matha teks, but little understand or have depth of actions. Depending on someone's sharda they can do candle light aarti of Guru Granth Sahib Ji, but they should also understand what Guru Sahib tells us is the TRUE Aarti at the same time while listening to the Aarti Shabad.

I'm in no ways saying not to do matha take lol so i hope no one misquotes me, I'm just saying promote reasons and teach the reasons for everything we do at Gurudwaras (perhaps Punjabi schools/other Gurudwara classes).

Can you show the references or katha that says this? I don't doubt it, I just want to see what the reasoning behind this is.

Preferably a katha by Sant Gurbachan Singh Bhindranwale or something to that extent.

In gurmat, naam jaapna (be it reflecting on gurbani/abhyaas/self reflection) is consider highest karam of all. With that being said, Guru sahib have blended sargun and nirgun devotion all in one- Khalsa. Khalsa should not be hesitant or confine themselves to only sargun rituals or nirgun rituals, just have fine balance of both in their daily chores...!! (Hint Hint- read my signature).

Now, if you are doing naam jaap and your mind is doing coconut jhatka or thinking about how to improve your sarbloh bibek..you got some serious road blocks issues my friends..get it sorted out..go to coconut doctor or sarbloh bibeki doctor..lol..but seriously do something..lol..other wise you will soon miss the boat..!!

At the end, perception is everything...one could still be with akaal doing cocunut jhatka part of sargun devotion to chandi shakti (bhaguati shakti) and one could still be with sargun rituals while doing jaap of nirgun..!!..

Baba Gurbachan Singh and all mahapursh from Dal and others who all respect and follow this maryada obviously thought it was more than another innovation. But let's ignore them all and follow plastic Sikhs

Please show me Katha from Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee or from his writings where he says to do Chatka of a coconut.

Exactly what spiritual benefit can a Sikh get from doing chatka of a coconut? how will it help their Naam Simran or Paath?

all this is symbolism...nothing wrong with rituals..as long as you know the symbolsim behind it....no spiritual path can survive without ritual ..maryada and rehat itself is full of rituals....using ritual for parchaar and worship is far more effective than giving someone a complicated text to read....everytime gurgaddi was passed on..tilak would be adorned on guru sahibs forehead...and coconut would be struck in half...theres no denying it happened...problems come when rituals become empty and the symbolism is lost

Haven't heard this before. I thought Tilak was a Hindu thing
