Iphone Woes

Saad Sangat jio, heres my dilema

I have a 1gen iphone my pyaari muumy ji got me as a present.......currently it is running fireware version 1.0.2, which is a realy old version........i wanna upgrade, but i just worked out that my phone is actually jalibroken.........so if i update via iTunes, im gonna 'brick' my phone................

I wanna put apps likes iSikhi on there so i got access to bani but my firmware is so outdated it wont install any newly devleoped apps. I think the person who sold my mum the phone put this InstallerApp program on there but that dont work any more.......

So how do i do this guys?

Some links to an idiots guide to upgrading the firmware would be useful, ive tried looking and none of it made sense.......

Here's a step by step guide on how to upgrade to the latest version 3 firmware. I followed this tutorial and it works spot on.

That sounds great pahji, ive read through the tutorial and i think i manage all that without too much difficultly...

just to clarify

will that upgrade work for the 1gen iPhone?

I don't think iSikhi works on the new 3.0 software. It doesn't on mine and it just crashes and closes. Not sure if there has been an update.

According to the iSikhi website - they have managed to fix the issue with firmware 3 and the new working release of iSikhi should be in the App Store very soon

Fateh,

We're happy to share that iSikhi v2.0 is now ready and submitted to Apple App Store. Apple usually takes betwee a week or two to review the apps and we're hoping that iSikhi v2.0 will be available for download next week.

New version is compatible with OS 3.0 (iPhone 3G S). It also includes Gurmukhi keyboard. Our developers had to re-write the entire app to support OS 3.0. The new version now uses Unicode characters and has better support for future compatibility.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of those who donated for the project. May waheguru continue to keep this project in chardi kala...
