Adil Ray-cist and that Sri Lankan presenter ALWAYS have topics on Sikhs, its jsut to get ratings adn create controversy!

Neither are Sikh (Adil - muslim, Sri lankan is a Budist) yet they have topics on khalistan, kirpans etc!

They should STOP all topics on US and concertnrate on Islam and Budism - there OWN religions

They seem to view us as SOFT targets.

I think the BBC has drawn a line under this now, unless we were to get the actual show I don't see this going any further:

Dear Mr Singh

Thanks for your e-mail about 'The Adil Ray Show'.

I understand you had concerns with regards to comments made during the broadcast which you felt were offensive to Sikhs and I note your specific reference to comments relating to a Kirpan. I also note that you feel that similar comments have been made previously that have went unchallenged by the station.

On Thursday 6 August 2008 during The Adil Ray Show on the BBC Asian Network, the news covered two stories about Sikhs. One was about the cancellation of a Gurdas Maan concert in Canada, the other about Sikh soldiers joining the Queen's Guard in the United Kingdom for the first time. Presenter Adil Ray talked about both stories with the newsreader after the bulletin.

Some listeners mistakenly thought that he was in some way mocking the Kirpan or Sikhism or judging the perceived rights or wrongs of wearing the Kirpan which has led to discussion on some messageboards based on incorrect information.

The BBC Asian Network and Adil Ray would like to assure all listeners that he did not mock the Kirpan or Sikhism but was merely expressing surprise at the cancellation of the concert over the Kirpan issue, and then to link the two stories he made a remark about the British Army and whether it would be open-minded enough to let Kirpan wearers in.

It is important to be clear that at no time did Adil Ray make any judgement about people's faith or wearing the Kirpan and both the BBC Asian Network and Adil Ray welcome the fact that he has listeners of all faiths who enjoy his humour and presentation.

We note that you allege Adil Ray stated something to the effect of "That's a stupid reason for having a Kirpan and do Sikhs really need them". To be absolutely clear, Adil Ray did not say this or indeed anything like this, as explained, he simply commented upon the decision by the organisers to cancel the concert and then discussed with the newsreader the story of the Queen's Guard.

However, I can assure you that your comments have been fully registered on our audience log. This log is made available to all members of the BBC, including the production team of 'The Adil Ray Show' and senior BBC management.

Thanks again for taking the time to contact us.

Regards

Nicola Maguire

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH, Sikhs will not tolerate this..If we dont make a stand now we will not get anywhere..

I suggest we organise a Protest Outside BBC studios...this is not the only thing they try and do sikhs over on...

there are alot more issues with the bbc...i feel this is just the begining.

Guys....

I first think we should ask the BBC for a uncut copy of the 6th August 2009..... but should go though a body that reps. sikh (think there is one called sikh council) then we should also make BBC aware of how many sikhs demand an answer...

Also can we list all the thinks that Adil Ray has said in the past or you believe the BBC has said incorrect about sikhs... we should then pass this list to the sikh council....

does abody have a contact with them....

After that we should meet outside the BBC office.

Thanks,

Kulvinder.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
