Singhrow: Study on Satkar (Respect of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji)

Those who do not respect Gurbani are not my SikhsSri Guru Har Rai (7th Guru of Sikhs)

We could be here for hours talking about how the satkar for Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji can be improved throughout the UK. But in this study I will be highlighting two violations and the way forward to resolve these issues. The one thing Sikhs have lacked is the potential and ability to create awareness about issues. The main reason for this is because there has never been a united movement to resolve a common issue. People always bring personals into an issue and the awareness becomes limited due to distrust (You don’t have to trust people to do Parchaar). The panth has turned into a bunch of “want to be Kharkoos”, when we have not even got the basics such as the education of our religion to our own community right. People need to get back from “Fantasy Island” and start parchaar in their own areas and educated the youth; in particular about the two following issues I am going to discuss (until this does not happen change will not come).

Issue 1 – Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji taken to hotel for weddings.

· Where ever the Guru goes that place becomes a Gurdwara. Therefore the whole building should have the code of conduct of a Gurdwara. (Not a hard concept to understand).

· So called Sikhs for their own convenience take Guru Ji to hotels where there is no Sikh Maryada, we all know what is present and what happens in hotels.

· After the Lavan Guru Ji is rushed out and sent away; so the party can start. (But people still think they will still receive the Guru’s blessings)

· If you wanted your Gran’s blessings before doing something would you go to her or make her come to you. A sensible person out of respect would go to their Gran.

Solution: Prevention is better then cure, if we flood the Gurdwaras and youth scene with a simple leaflet, our youth will not book weddings in hotels. (A lot of youth don’t know this is wrong because of the lack of knowledge).

Issue 2 – the halls of corruption with Guru Ji’s money.

· The sangat work hard (blood, sweat and tears) and give their money to Guru Ji (golak) for a just cause. They expect the money to be used on charity, food for langar and Gurdwara preservations. The money should be used for something righteous as it is the Guru’s money. The money should not be used to sponsor sin and corrupt activities.

· A lot of Gurdwaras are using the Gurus money to build halls in which parties take place. A corrupt environment is created in the name of Guru Nanak Dev Ji (because the Gurus money is used and the building is Gurdwara Property). Some even have statues of shaheeds in front of the main entrance. A lot of them have Khandas and Gurbani on the main boards of the building at the front.

· Sikhs used to save the honour of Hindu women that were kidnapped by the Mughals. But now we make our own sisters, daughters and mothers dance to tunes about sex and drugs while wearing immodest clothing in front of everybody and to top it off in a building which belongs to the Guru.

· Drugs such as Alcohol and meat are consumed in the Gurus building. We get <Edited> and like barbarians eating flesh and using our belly as grave yards; all this in the Gurus building. What will we say to Guru Ji when we die? Look at what he taught us and at what we are doing!

Solution: Again once the youth is educated about this hopefully they will not book parties and maybe after seeing a rebellion from the Sangat, the Gurdwara management will come to its senses and use the halls for righteous things.

It is the duty of every Sikh to make every other Sikh house hold aware of these things and to spread awareness about these violations. Education of the coming generation is vital to make a U-turn to these violations.

I do this kinda things alot and they either rip the poster off the wall and throw it away or try to chase me off for questioning manmat foolishness.

Management love to sprint to the gholak and start counting the money like a starving dog seeing a scrap of food. The quality of the Sangat is how the money should be spent. Some claim to build a bigger better huge building and when you think about it they will need 70 million dollars to build such a buildiing that mainly isnt used but once a week for a few hours. If the building is packed all the time then that means the Sangat comes for the Sikhi of the Sangat not the culture of the Sangat, and only when its always inconvenient to have a packed room and for the comfort of the Sangat should a new building be constructed. I think they use half the money on a new Darbar Hall while the rest goes into embellzed pockets in the name of Dasvand and donated gholak funds etc.

One good point is to teach the Sangat when you dont understand Guru Sahib then ask for an interpretation and then you will know the simplicity of Sikhi. If you dont follow SIkhi then youre in the same group of everyone else that dont follow Gods will, sad that youll be so close to the cure but not take it and suffer for it while being right there at the doctors(Guru) hospital(Darbar).

People mainly take Sikhi for granted and are just as much lost as a person that doesnt believe in any religion. They do Sikh activities but dont even benefit from going to Divan or being blessed to listen to Guru Sahibs teachings could take a backseat to their sports, alcohol or kaam activities. SIkhi is very simple and only a fool would need to have laymans terms translated into even more laymans terms.(you can only translate 1 into a few ways after that the person must be stupid for not knowing the simplicity of the number 1)
