Sant Smaaj 1959 - Guru Granth Sahib Jees Mangals

On the 11th September 1959 at Gurdwara Akhand Prakash village Bhindar Kalan (Damdami Taksal), Great Sant Mahapurkhs held an urgent meeting regarding the changing of Guru Granth Sahib Ji's Mangals by the SGPC. These Great Souls of the Panth would not tolerate the Beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and stopped it happening. Some of the Mahapurkhs present at the meeting include:-

Sant Inder Singh Jee - Brother of Sant Sundar Singh jee - Bindar Kalan, Pradaan Sahib, Sant Hari Singh Jee (Khaar Pur) Sant Isher Singh Jee Rara Sahib (Karam Sar) Sant Isher Singh Jee Kalera-Nanaksar (Jagrava), Sant Ajaib Singh Jee Lama Jatt pura (Rai Kot), Sant Gurbachan Singh Jee Bhindranvale Damdami Taksaal, Bhai Sant Singh jee Secetary Chief Khalsa Divaan-Amritsar, Sant Mohinder Singh Jee Harkhoval, Bhai Sarvan Singh Jee Gandrab Dumehlee, Sant Nand Singh Jee Raamghar, Sant Vasaakha Singh Jee, Sant Mela Singh Jee, Giani Niranjan Singh Jee and Sant Kartaar Singh Jee Bhindranvale

I love that picture aswell, it has alot of history behind it, when great pooran bahmgyani mahapurkhs of various sampardas join together for one reason - Satkaar of Dhan Dhan Sahib Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee Maharaaj. . . Just shows what real saints are about, they couldnt bare to see beadbi of Maharaaj Jee happening. Todays shcolars and commitees are doing similar beadbi - us as a panth have to take an active role. . . Santa Ko Matt Koi Nindoo, Sant Raam hai aiko

What are the reasons why Sants say that the mangals should be written in a particular way. The only argument I've heard is that they say it is written in a certain way in a old copy of a Bir of Guru Granth Sahib Jee. If this is the only reason then the argument is purely academic.

Is there any spritual reasons for their arguments?
