With Guru Ji’s grace, a unique event is being organized in remembrance of the devastating Delhi anti Sikh riots which occurred in the wake of a tyrant’s assassination.

This year is the 25th anniversary of the 1984 massacres. Appalling violence descended upon on our brave and precious brothers and sisters by an unjust, blind government. It is time to show that their deeds have not been forgotten. It is time to remember. It is time to reflect.

A twofold approach is being taken for the event itself; discourses for the intellect taking place during the day followed by Kirtan for the soul in the evening. This double edged sword will be utilized to carry across a vital message of the utmost prominence to all Sikhs across the globe. During the day we are arranged for notable speakers to offer discourses and in depth discussions upon the events surrounding the riots. We will also arrange for workshops to take place for various age groups.

To attract the ever diverted youth and to encourage Sangat participation, it was felt that a degree of uniqueness is required to mark the occasion and to promote Ekta, to evoke the true meaning of Sanjha. In line with this, the kirtanee requested to attend are to be paired up and asked to perform Kirtan as a real collaboration with other kirtanee which to our knowledge has not been done before in the UK.

Further details will be made available shortly. We humbly request for the entire UK Sangat to attend this special event to show that we have not forgotten.

Fateh,

The bhog of Chaupai Sahib 2.5 million is on that day, there may be a joint program with the one above, however that is yet to be decided. Sikhroots were informed the day they put up the poster aswell and were asked about a joint program and have yet to respond, likewise the team are thinking of the idea BUT have yet to respond. Hopefully no clashes.

To Remember & To Reflect

:: Saturday 28th Nov'09 :: Guru Nanak Gurdwara, Sedgley St, Wolverhampton ::

SarbatSeva (UK) and Sikhroots humbly request for all sangat to attend and take part in the First National Remembrance Day for our family of Shaheeds.

The UK's first Q&A session on life with Shaheeds has now been included. Anyone wishing to participate and share their experiences is very much welcome to do so.

Benti to Sangat... Let us all come together for this one day event in remembrance of what descended upon our Panth 25 years ago

There will be a prompt 15:00 start by Bhai Jagjit Singh from Leeds who will provide a 45 minute talk entitled 'Genocide in Delhi'.

He will then be followed by Jagowale's Q & A session. Bhai Sukha Singh (Nihang) will then end the talks section of the event with a discourse on Spritual Guidance.

On completion of the afternoon talks, Rehras and 45 minutes of Chaupai Sahib will be recited by GNNSJ.

The evenings Collaborative Kirtan Darbar will begin at 18:00.

The concept is simple; kirtani from each jatha will be paired together to perform as one.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
