Honestly in society,

English Translation - Nobody gives his or her daughter to Starving-Naked guy and likewise nobody accept's a daughter-in-law of such status.

In addition no girl from a respectable & well-off background likes to start a relationship with a penny-less guy.

There are very few Genuine people who recognise, understand and admit to this reality. So they are open, honest & practical about Give & Take in arranging their child's marriage.

Rest are fooling themselves or trying to fool others.

Time & time again i have said "what is stopping a person from marrying an orphan or poor girl or guy ?"

Thing is, if parents want to settle their kids ON TIME i.e getting them married, then they have to provide support !

Long time back i heard a Katha by Sant Singh ji Maskeen where he mentioned why the system of "Swayamvar" i.e (girl finding her own husband) FAILED. The practice was discontinued as things started to get ugly after marriage due to incompatibility.

So going for an Arranged Marriage is still the best option in the long run.
