A bog standard, over weight, bezti, not too bright, punjabi family.

The thing about this programme though is that its got the whole country watching it. Everybody...muslims, hindus, christians and jews as well as sikhs. Everbody's watching it. So far, judging from peoples comments, its made people think that Sikhs are really 'cool', whatever that means.

I watched last nights episode and I'm a bit confused about the 'praying' the family members like to do. It seems like they are doing their morning and evening prayers as normal but one always sees them faced a particular wall where we can see the outline of a photo, although we're never shown what the foto is, and no one actually has gatka sahib in their hands. So I'm guessing they're some kind of raodaswami family. But whatever they are, they're actualy growing on me as a family. I just wish they'd tidy their house up a bit.

They're a harmless Brit Punjabi family. I feel that there's a positive portrayl of family bonds, marriage and commitment. Besides that it's just mindless reality show entertainment. I'd rather watch Amardeep Singh doing the Jaap Sahib katha on the Sikh Channel on Wednesday evenings!!

Its nothing harmless, but if they do anything "out of line", there's just potential for people to think, this is what all Sikhs are like. Especially how the editing of these kinds of programs tend to make stories out of nothing.

to be honest, they do represent the typical UK 'sikh' family so i would argue it's a reasonably accurate portrayal of punjabi-sikh families...

Brilliant programme - shows the typical Panjabi family - along with the caste system issue which affects the Sikh Qoum throughout the generations - with the girl being a 'Tharkhan' and guy a 'Jatt' the girls mother does not want her to marry the boy - and this in 2009!
