Sat Sangat And Sadh Sangat?

A question I've had in my mind for some time and was wondering if anyone on SikhSangat could help me with...Whats the difference between Sat-Sangat and Sadh-Sangat??

Many people I've asked have said that its the same thing and are not different in meaning. If that is the case, Is there any specific reason why Maharaj used one instead of the other??

For example we read in Reharas Sahib, "Mere Madho Ji Satsangat Milae So Tharia."

Is there a specific reason Satsangat was used there and not Sadh-Sangat??

Appreciate any enlightenment :D

Lets see their meanings:

Sat-Sangat: The True Congregation

Saadh-Sangat: The Congregation of the Gurmukhs

The congregation of Gurmukhs IS the True congregation. Thus both ARE same.

Just as Guru can be as Sant in Bani, why can't SatSangat be SaadhSangat?

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa

Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh

Hi,

There is no difference. Just to make proper rhymes in the Bani, Maharaji used Saadh sanagt in some place and Sat Sangat in few. When we say Saadh Sanagt, Maharaji is telling us about the Sangat of Puran Sant or Brhamgyani only who would help us to know the Satguru. Therefore Satguru cannot be achived unless we got a sanagt of Saad,Sant puran gurmukhs beacuse they know the paath of Guru and Akal Purakh. Therefore Saadhsangat come before SatSangat even though Sat(Truth) prevails in Saadh Sangat too.

SATSANGAT means SACH (truth) di Sangat and in Gurbani it is told :-

"Satsangat kaisi jaaniye, Jithe eko Naam vakhaaniye"

mean , the place where veechaar or talk about EKO NAAM (or Akaal

Purakh) is done. This may be a place where two or more Sikhs join togather

and discuss about EKO NAAM, or this place may be Heart of alone SIKH

who is deep meditation OF Eko Naam and during maditation he feels not

alone but doing Sangat of SATGURU/AKAAL PURAKH and Gurbaani veechar

starts within his Heart and during this process many of his unsolved questions

about Gurbani and any thing and every thing are solved.

SAADH SANGAT is sangat of SATGURU physically, that is when Sikhs and others

come in presence of Sri GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI, and this may be in Gurudwara

Sahib or any other place where sangat enjoys presence of Sri GURU GRANTH SAHIB JI.

Bhul chuk khima , Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh.

WAHEGURUJIKAKHALSAWAHEGURUJIKEFATEH.

Sat Sangat , Sadh Sangat , Sant Sangh etc......

According to the philosopphy of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharajh , sadh is some one who engages in meditating upon waheguru and urges others to follow suit , Sant is some one who engages in meditating upon waheguru and urges others to follow suit. Initially all references are to do with simran. As one's avasthaa (spirituality ) develops , one will find the company of some Gursikhs more magnetic than others and as such will want to spend more time with them.

Most of us , as Sikhs , cannot often determine the status of a Sadh or Sant but as we engage in daily nitnem our spirituality will take us to different levels of understanding and different Gursikhs. It will be a individual experience but the most important thing to remember is Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji's Hukum (command) :

Read Gurbani daily , reflect upon Gurbani , and "swallow" Gurbani i.e. act on the teachings.

No Difference.

SAT - Truth is God. Everything else is Untruth - Maya.

Sadh is the term used for SAINT. Saint is SAT - God himself in the heart of the Saint.

Therefore, both Sat Sangat and Sadh Sangat mean the same really.

You see, a lot of us interpreted terms such as GURMUKH. GUR means GOD and Mukh means FACE, therefore a Gurmukh person is in a very very high Spiritual Stage meaning He's facing Towards God, Hes defeated his own Mann - Mind and lives under God's Mind, Puran Hukam.

GUR(god)-UUU, GOD'S Supreme SOUL, thats why when we say GURU it means Its the Supreme Soul - Parmatma himself talking to us through the body of Guru. Body is not the Guru, The supreme soul is the Guru.
