**new Nanakshahi Calendar** Changes Passed In Nanakshahi Calendar - Entire Panth Requested To Embrace New Calender

Recommended Posts

It was a mistake to adopt calender suggested by a factory worker of Canada. He has no knowledge

of astronomy.

There was a committee formed when this calender was adopted . Among the committee was an expert

and Gursikh Col Surjit singh Nishan. He had headed ASI earlier. He had brought out glaring mistakes in the calender

of Purewal. His view was ignored and calender was adopted.

Finally we have something good that issues have been taken care of to some extent and we have a calender in name

of Guru sahib.

Pray Truth for all and say Satsriakaal!

Dear all!

It would be great to learn astronomy Vidyaa before producing a new calendar.

Suns, moons and all stars are moving in God's Hukam today also. The reverend Gurus did not produce a calendar of it. Nor they suggested someone to do so.

Entangled in a calendar, they are trying to mislead the seekers.

Truth is Paramaatmaa. He is leading you remaining a part of Sansaara.

Sick are those people who do Cher Char with Sikh History. If Nanakshahi Calendar was the requirement, Why didnot Guru Gobind SIngh ji Implemented it. Why didnot those Mahan Gursikhs born after guru Gobind Singh ji implemented it. Even Sant Jarnail SIngh ji Bhindrawale would have have raised the question that they want seperate calendar.

Apart from this, Why nankshahi Calendar implementors were not able to CHange the Date of Guru Nank Devji's Birthday.(simplly bcz Gurdasji mentioned Guruji was born on Katak di Pooran Mashi).

There are Bad people in our Panth who are taking us to the Wrong Directions(especially the Sikh Youths) which is against the Gurmat and Santmat. Santmat is very important and essential to Sikh Panth. When i say Santmat, I am talking abt Puran Sant and Brahmgyanis. Even Sant SIngh ji Maskeen had a sangat of Puran Sant in Rajasthan from where He obtained initial Gurmat Knowledge. Even Guru Ramdasji Bowed and CLeaned the feets of Baba Shri Chand ji(Son of Guru Nankdevji) with his Dhara(Beards) just to show Sikh Panth is Nothing without the Sant Mat.

"Men put on many strange clothes and wander far away in search of God. But they forget to make their hearts clean. They shall neither find God, nor any happiness after death. O Man, be a saint in your own home and follow the Guru's way; Practise truth, love and good works. This way alone You will know truth and be granted Gods grace.

no place for "santmat" in our panth blud, theres gurmat and thats it, there is Guroo and there is Sikh, no other hierachy. it is humble GurSikhs that are sants, not these jokers who call themselve "sant samaj" and have 3+ tiltes in front of their names. the title didnt exist in Guroo sahibs time and is man made and creates a hierachy system in our panth, which has no place in GURmat. the reason the calender issue wasnt raised by Guroo Sahib because the didnt need to focus on trivial issues, the was spreading the message of God through Gurbaani, and fighting wars against tyrannical regimes. Shaheed Baba Jarnail Singh Khalsa was leading a morcha against the tyrannical regime of indira and waking up the the nation. and i for one think all dates should be fixed on original dates including Guru Nanak Dev jis parkaash utsav.

KH4L1$T4N1 paaji,

Then You shouldnot call yourself Khalstani bcz it is only guru and Sikh thing. If Group Sikhs come togather under One Flag, We call them Sikh Panth, What if Puran Sant ,Mahapursh come togather to form sant Samaj.

Rmember that the All the Khalsa groups formed after Guru Gobind SIngh Ji such Buddha Dal,Khalsa Dal,Damdami Taksal, and other Dals were formed by Sant mahapursh only such as Sant Jarnail SIngh ji Bhindrawale Khalsa,Sant Kartar Singh ji, Sant Attar Singhji,, Sant Randeer SIngh ji, Sant Gurbachan SIngh ji Khasa. Today we Use Sant WOrd before their Name.

I think You should Read Gurbani Before Telling There is no Place for Sant Samaj or Sant MAT. The Meaning of SANT(Puran Sant,Saad,Brahmgyani) itself means who is merged with Beant.(Akal Purakh).

O Nanak, rare are those, who, as Gurmukh, obtain the Naam. ||8||2||

If few people in a team are doing wrong work, you cannot just say whole Team is Bad. Similarly, If Few people are destroying the Sikh Panth by wrong Parchaar you cannot say whole Sikh Panth is wrong. SANT MAT is very essential and Part of Sikhism.

The slanderer of the Saint is a brutal butcher.

sMq kw inMdku prmysuir mwrw ]

The slanderer of the Saint is cursed by the Transcendent Lord

Gurmat is Established based on SantMat because we Get that knowledge from Puran Sant only. We are not all born with Gurmat knowledge. We get gurmat from the Saad Sangat or Satsangat.

I am in favor of this change :)

In recent weeks a number of Sikh organisations have issued statements to oppose changes to the Nanakshahi Calendar. The Sikh Federation (UK) wanted changes to the Calendar.

There has been criticism of the Calendar since its introduction.

The Sikh Federation (UK) wanted changes to bring an end to the criticism and restore Panthic unity, but maintain the separate Nanakshahi Calendar for the Sikh Nation. We have therefore applauded the decision.

We have expressed our concerns to the time taken to reach a consensus decision and the methods used to make the final decision. This shows the whole system needs to be reformed.

But one thing is for certain ordinary Sikhs have the utmost respect for the Akaal Takht as an institution so the amended Nanakshai Calendar will quickly become universally accepted.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Times of India are rumnning a story on the views of Sikhs in the Diaspora:

Some of the questions posed are:

Was the Sikh community of UK happy with the original format of NC implemented in 2003 at Damdama Sahib or the community wanted certain changes?

Did the Sikhs living abroad sent their objections, if any , to SGPC or Akal Takht office?

What are the major objections, if any?

Are the changes made in NC acceptable to the Sikhs living abroad?

Any dissatisfaction among community over the method adopted to make changes?

Why there is so much hue and cry from various splinter Sikh groups who claims that none of the Sikh living abroad would accept the amendments?

Which are the party, according to you, have political and vested interests?

Is the controversy over now?

The Times of India would like quotes from three to four Sikhs, young and old on the issue. Please email these to info@sikhfederation.com in the next 1 hour.

I read somewhere that Christmas is not the actual birth day of Jesus 'the christ' but that of pagan God who prime diety of pagans who formed majority of converts to new religion of chritianity. By renaming this day to birthday of christ the church made a great move, the pagans retained their 'original' 'rituals' with a new name and the new converts believed they are 'rightfully liberated from shackles of a blind faith' but carried on with age old traditions. Good Job. Lets hope there are no more changes in future as some poster said in a previous post that 'no one wants a calendar that can be changed at the whims of a committee'.

LIKEWISE!

Excellent move FINALLY, we will notice that only the missionary doubting type will and have tried to oppose this move. Most if nto all ESTABLISHED Sikh jathebandi's and PURAATAN sanstha's will be happy with this (oh, and the ones who dont like the word Sant will still oppose it even if they know they are wrong to do so, and of course the gold medal award wale above lol).

Purewal in Canada lol - what a joke he was???

I Think what paaji was tryna say was that there is often a difference between being called a Sant, and Actually Being a Sant.

Boundaries which us humans often decide, and ofcourse we're only human so we very easily get it wrong sometimes. Especially in todays age when we use the term very looslely.

Anyway Pressure from Sant samaj clearly seems to have an impact on Sikh bodies.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
