Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, who goes and falls at the Feet of the True Guru.

Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, who with his mouth, utters the Name of the Lord.

Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, whose mind, upon hearing the Lord's Name, becomes blissful.

Blessed, blessed is that Sikh of the Guru, who serves the True Guru, and so obtains the Lord's Name.

Damdami Taksaal & Akhand Kirtani Jatha

Baba Thakur Singh jee was strong in his beliefs, however at the same time he had the utmost respect for Abhiyaasi (practicing) Gursikhs. Baba Thakur Singh jee met up with (late) Bhai Sahib Raam Singh jee, the former Jathedaar of Akhand Kirtani Jatha and they shared great pyaar. Baba Thakur Singh would make Gursikhs sit on his manjaa (bed) and he would do their sevaa. Baba jee showed respect and love for other Gurumukh Pyaare and their Jeevans (spirituality) regardless of small differences in vichaar.

Malaysia Visit

In the Summer of 1998, Baba Thakur Singh jee and the Jatha Bhindran Singhs travelled to Malaysia. Baba jee talked very little and talked only if necessary. The Jatha Singhs told Baba jee that (the now late) Bhai Sahib Rajinder Singh jee (Dudley), from the Jathedaar of Chalda Vaheer Jatha (and a member of Akhand Kirtani Jatha), who was also visiting Malaysia for Sikhi Parchaar, had come to meet him. As soon as Baba jee heard this he rushed to the door to greet Bhai Sahib. Baba jee had a long conversation with Bhai Sahib, which was quite unusual for him as he talked littled.

No offence, but these Gurmukhs shown above were progressive Gursikhs with Kamia, they were Mahapurshs'. In my view what we have to today are self-appointed, self-promoting, non-deserving, wannabe leaders in each corner.

Today, just to see the sub-splits within splits of both DDT and AKJ show that these groups are only surviving off the bhagti of their predecessors’. When we desreve ekta we are blessed with ekta when we deserve disunity then we will suffer disunity.

I remember when I was first getting into Sikhi I saw all these arguements about raagmalla and I didnt have the faintest idea about what this was. I asked the son of Bhai Rajinder Singh Ji (in the pictures with Baba Takhar Singh Ji), who told me very simply, 'You dont need to wory about that, learn the basics first, dont get into these debates'. Many many years on now, i look back and smile and see the son of a gursikh who was respected and had respect for other gursikhs across the world. The wisdom found in a 17 year old is today missing in 70 year olds!

Ekta today is a fading old dream, this last weekend has knocked that dream backwards by many many years. So many people are upset and angry about what happened and have become very polarised. Its probably best to focus on your own bhagti now, if maharajh wants ekta he can give it. For now, it aint happening, not with the UK guys at least, and thats being realistic rather than being opptimistic. But maharajh can do kirpa in a split second, so who knows :)

possibly one of the best threads on this site for a long time. I hope admin make it a sticky. we need more threads promoting unity. People who promote disunity are helping the anti sikh forces trying to divide and destroy us. please delete any negative posts in this thread.

its wrong that jatha bandeyas have become segregated nowadays and promote their own programs and sevas, and have their own Gurdwara's and own politics......if you look just 30 years ago at the Dharam Yudh Morcha which began in 1978 Nihangs, AKJ Singh's and Damdami Taksal all got together and fought off the attack on Sikhism.

jatha bandis are like different battalions in an Army to make the army more effective and strong, but if these battalions start fighting each other then ultimately it is all of them that will die out.

Bhai Sukhdev Singh's Relationship With Sant Jarnail Singh

Since 1980, the Indian Security Forces had come to know of a youth called Sukhdev Singh, and had began to hunt him. So Bhai Sahib permanently shifted all command operations to Siri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. It was here that stayed from 1980 till 1984. Babbar Khalsa had come into existence here.

Sant Jarnail Singh had established the Dharam Yudh Morcha. Bhai Sahib fully supported this movement. He also wished all the youth of Punjab to leave intoxicants and become Sikhs of the Guru.

Sant Jarnail Singh ji was also a highly spiritual and visionary Gursikh. He knew since the Shaheedi of Jathedar Fauja Singh, that hard times would fall on Sikhs and they needed to become Shahsterdhari (armed). He also knew anti-Panthik forces would do everything to divide the Sikh Youth to ensure that Sikh demands are not met. The Sikh youth who were brave and full of spirit were in two Jathebandies; - Damdami Taksal and Akhand Kirtani Jatha. During the early 1980s, a meeting occurred between Sant Jarnail Singh ji and Bhai Joginder Singh Talwara. Bhai Amolak Singh was also sent to represent the youth as no organisation had formed at the time of this meeting. In this meeting it was agreed that no issues that divided these two groups would ever be allowed stop the common cause of the Sikh Nation.

Later as Babbar Khalsa came into existence, Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale held them in high respect, and they are often mentioned in his lectures. Names like Bhai Kulwant Singh Nagoke, Bhai Manjit Singh Babbar are mentioned frequently.

Meeting in Jail

When Sant Jarnail Singh ji was in prison after being arrested in Chowk Metha, it was national news. Bhai Sukhdev Singh and Bhai Wadhava Singh walked into the police station armed with guns. The police realising who had just walked in, ran for their lives. Bhai Sukhdev Singh asked Sant ji to come with them and continue his Parchaar. Sant Jarnail Singh ji said he appreciated their courage, but has no need to go underground. Sant ji said his release had already been arranged legitimately.

Sant Ji respected the way Bhai Sukhdev Singh had quickly dealt with the Nirankaris "7 Sitarees" (their equivalent to our Punj pyares). Also how he had planned how Bhai Ranjit Singh would infiltrate Nirankari Baba Gurbachana house, and numerous other high profile actions.

Sacha Sukha (Truthful Sukha)

During 1983-84, the security services tried to divided the Singhs. It had been the wish of the security services that Sikh youth fight amongst themselves, creating enemies, and opportunities which could be used to gather information from rivals, and start them eliminating each other. Some infiltrators dressed up as Singhs and robbed a Hindu mans store in Amritsar. They told him to leave Punjab or he will be killed. They pretended to be Sant Bhindranwales men. The distraught hindu shop keeper went to Darbaar sahib, and was told by sangat to see Bhai Sukhdev Singh, who was based at Baba Atal Sahib Gurdwara. Bhai Sukhdev Singh was upset that people are doing this is Gursikhi Baana (clothes), as it gives Gursikhs a bad name. When the Babbar Khalsa Singhs located these infiltrators, Bhai Sukhdev Singh got a laathi, ( a long Danda- wooden stick), tied them upside down from a tree and beat them with it. He made them give all the money back, and told them never to threaten any innocent again.

Other infiltrators tried to stoke up the Taksali Singhs against Babbars saying Sukhdev Singh had beat up these Singhs. Many rumours were circulated to get one group against another. Some of these rumours later even got published in books, to ferment differences between the groups. But Sant Ji knew this was not correct, and instead started refering to Jathedar Sukhdev Singh ji as "Saccha Sukha", (The Truthful Sukha).

Both Sant Ji and Bhai Sahib knew their fight was not against innocents. Sant ji, too was called in press as a Hindu hater, but facts show he was highly respected by many Hindus. The fight was only against those who choose to destroy Sikhism.

Even today, in books written about the Operation BlueStar refer to differences between the two leaders, which are baseless. Sant Logowal and Gurcharan Singh Tohra, both key Akali leaders at that time also sought to divide Sukhdev Singh and Sant ji. They were afraid of the growing prominence of Sant ji and the amount of youth with him. The only person capable of standing against him, who also had a lot of youth with him was Bhai Sahib. So these leaders also indulged in rumour mongering to divide the two Gurmukhs, and associated themselves with the Babbars.

Bhai Sahib realised these forces that were at work and so did Sant ji. Both shared a mutual respect and their common cause. However no differences directly arose between the two Gursikhs, despite the attempts of many. Both fought together at Operation Blue Star, as the story continues………

WaheGuru......................................Beutiful post. Please provide us with some more insipirational ones like this. It really inspries me to read such great history we have as Sikhs and the Ekta historically. It was that EKTA that kept Sikhi Flourshing and keeps that ray of hope in our hearts today.......

My brothers, my sisters we All know that Ekta is possible. As they say, lets get our fingers out and make it happen. Just read the above, look at the pictures doesn't it make you feel proud to be part of such a Mahaan kaum? Does it not make you want to do something for the Kaum? The list is endless............

Baba Tirlok Singh Ji was doing a talk and he said that it wasn't good to see a Sikh fighting a fellow Sikh. We should stand together stronger, shoulder to shoulder and be there for each other no matter what.

Can we make that possible today? Do we have the Pyar in us to forget all the differences and stand united? Week on week new cases are being highlighted where Sikhs are affected globally, Panjab, UK, Europe, USA, Canada, Australia.

Recent case highlighted on Sikh TV yesterday, was one of our Sikh brothers who was not allowed to work in a prison because he wore a Kirpan. The findings were that only a Small proportion of SIkhs wore the Kirpan and not the community as a whole.

We don't really take ourselves seriously how do we expect Society to respect us and our Core values.

Someone made a suggestion not so long ago. We should have 5 Singhs from each town who would be responsible for all activitiy and communication. They would then communicate nationally to 5 Singhs in all other towns.............

Bull Chuk Maaf.
