The Sikh Story: 1984 - Bbc 1 Documentary & Discussions On The Sikh Channel

From this topic and others, one thing is clear... we need to EDUCATE - but before we educate others, we need to become educated ourselves.

Please see the names of a number of books and publications that EVERY SINGLE person who has posted on this topic needs to read - it might take some time, but we need to arm ourselves with knowledge, because this has become our biggest failing.

Lets not counteract with opinions, lets do it with FACTS - if anyone would like more info, or is looking to do some research on the events on 84 - or has a databank of factsl, please PM me - it would be useful to have either an online/offline library of information.

Yoh check out nihals show on bbc asiannetwork..discussing this doco the day after it aired....some interesting points of view from the listeners who called in

http://www.bbc.co.uk...onsole/b00pwmky

I just listened to a person called "Ash" who said if Khalistan movement revives he would go to India and fight against Khalistan. Then he says he survived "3 attempts" on his life .From this one can infer that he was a member of Hindu Raksha Samiti or some similar fundamentalist hindu organisation.

Then he says Sant Bhindranwale got weapons in to the Darbar Sahib for his "political gains" whereas Sant ji had repeteadly said that if he holds any office then "mera sir hougaa tay tuhaday chhitar ...." Further the Ash person seemed to have deliberately ignored the fact that the attack on Darbar Sahib was in fact rehearsed 16 months before at a place called Chakrataa with the model of Darbar Sahib.

Why were about 40 other Gurdwaras also attacked simultaneously ?

Look at what Neelam said she calls herself a "Fundamentalist Hindu" .

The fact of today is "There is no question of Hindu Sikh Unity " Our relations can be based with Hindu on the basis of "mutual respect" only,if at all.The day there is Hindu Sikh "unity" Sikhism will be finished.

I also heard about some emails and calls by Sikh girls.Amanpreet is a typical example .She clearly says her brother is clean shaven and her father is a true Sikh.Im pretty sure she is more inclined towards the views of her brother rather than her father. She calls Sant Bhindranwale a terrorist and is an example of a typical briish Sikh girl.Similar views were expressed by other Sikh name sounding girls via email .

Forgive me as I may be offending some people here(I dont care) but I personally feel most Sikh girls in this day and age are the biggest traitors of the Sikh faith .And Im afraid if the Sikh Students Federation doesn't revive the social reform movement of the 1980/90s we are going to regret later.Sikh girls are really getting out of hand in the name of liberty and modernism.Any true Sikh can NOT sit silently watching our own destruction .

Yes most hindus think as that lady Neelam even today.

Not a single hindu has come out openly against nor participates in any protest openly for punishing the perpertrators of 1984 anti Sikh genocide perpetrators.

Nor has any hindu participated in anti Dera protests in Punjab. After the so called militancy became dormant during late 1990's(it will not finish till the greviences are removed) there was a sort of "vacuum" regarding info and otherwise.

Many factors contributed to that vacuum .Amongst other factors was the brutal genocide of the Sikhs in Punjab in which about 2 lakh Sikhs were murdered in fake encounters or otherwise. Then there was a sort of media blackout vis a vis the Sikhs.Firstly there was only 1 source of info for all info ie Doordarshan or All India Radio which depicted only the government point of view .GOI distorted every thing to show Sikhs,Sant Bhindrawale and kharkoos in bad light. So much so that a number of ignorant Sikhs particularly in Punjab had bad views about them .Indian tv used to say that these are "muthi bhar antankvaadi jo Pakistan kee sheh per Punjab mein atankvaad ker rahay hain.."With this propoganda they murdered 2 lakh Sikhs. The same propoganda is still continuing. But during the last 10 years or so suddenly awareness has increased all over including Punjab.Sant ji's speeches which we used to listen secretly on casette players ealier suddenly became available on the net freely. After listening to Sant ji's speeches outlook of a number of not only Sikhs but other Punjabis also changed dramatically. But still internet penetration in Punjab is very less.Ordinary village Sikhs are still ignorant about the reality of 1984,Sant Bhindranwale and the kharkoo movement.

That is why successive govts in Punjab have been able to lead them astray.

But the recent Deravaad and the open protection by succesive Congress,Akali Dal Badal/BJP govts and the silence of Hindus regarding deravaad and 1984 anti Sikh pogroms is reviving the Khalistan movement in Punjab. You can openly hear Khalistan slogans in Punjab during various protests these days even in front of Police officers.

Sajjan Kumar won by a margin of over 5 lakh (half million) votes from Delhi after mass killings of Sikhs in 84, clearly points which directions Hindus mind worked. Earlier i used to pity the mass killings of Hindus by Muslim invadors, Timur lang killed as many One lakh Hindus in one go near Delhi and God knows how many he killed elsewhere. I feel no pity whatever anymore.

As Sant Bhindranwale used to say we(Sikhs) keep harping on Hindus as our brothers but has any Hindu called a Sikh as his brother ?

Sant ji's words are even more relevant after his shaheedi than they were when he spoke these words in the Darbar Sahib complex.

Mr Simranjit Singh Mann says any Hindu he will say "Jai Hind" or "Bharat mata kee jai".Every Muslim in Pakistan will say Pakistan Zindabad. When Sikhs are neither Hindus nor Muslims then why do we shy away from mentioning "Khalistan" .

He further says that during his recent visit to UK a number of UK parliamentarians and mayors told him that they are prepared to help for the Khalistan cause provided some one mentions about it to them. They say even in UK Sikhs feel afraid of mentioning Khalistan.

There is a trend amongst most Sikhs to say that the 1984 anti Sikh pogroms were the handiwork of some hooligans or some congress people .Whereas this is not true .The truth is it was the handiwork of hindus of all types including congress, hindu raksha samiti,Shiv sena,RSS,BJP,communists etc etc.

The Shiv sena and Hindu Raksha samiti were always making life hell for Sikhs within Punjab also in connivence with the govt. We saw quite a strong reaction to Ludhiana goli kaand on 5 December,2009 but I remember vaguely a number of such incidents occurring during the so called militancy period in which hindus along with Punjab police under the protection of Punjab and central govt used to fire on peaceful processions of All India Sikh Students Federation and Sikhs. One such incident of unprovoked firing by hindus and punjab police took place at Nakodar in which a number of Sikhs(I dont remember the exact number) were killed.

Soon all Sikhs will realise that the way kharkoos took on the fundamentalist hindus and punjab police was absolutely right.Sikhs took on fundamentalist trouble making hindus whereas hindus took on ordinary Sikhs.Bhai Daljit Singh Bittu ,Chairman of Akali Dal Panch pradhani said immediately after his realise that they were proud of the kharkoo struggle and do not regret it.He has said it a number of times later also but at the same time he said that now they will struggle non violently.Despite this Bhai Bittu is languishing in Amritsar jail under false cases because his popularity was increasing day by day in the struggle against deravaad.

During the recent Fatehgarh Sahib and Muktsar Sahib conferences the maximum crowd was seen at the exhibition of Shaheed Singhs of the Sikh struggle and around Bhai Bittu's posters.

Mr Simranjit Singh Maan's Akali Dal Amritsar says they didn't believe in the kharkoo struggle and believe in fighting for Khalistan in a peaceful way although Panch pradhani is also fighting for the same goal peacefully at the moment. This is the main difference between both parties.

But all Sikhs must remember it is written in Gurbani No one gives freedom to the other .One can get it only by his own power.

Instead of harping on Khalistan shouldnt all efforts be directed towards getting Sikhs as seperate religios peopleunder Indian constitution? By presenting Khalistan as the ONLY goal, all other matters as seperate classification under constitution, Seperate marriage Act are ignored. Is this deliberate?

It has been unsucessfully tried for 31 years. Now you try it .

Best of Luck .

Actually creating confusions on Khalistan instead of a clear stand on it is DELIBRATE.

Similarly treating different sections of society like Biharis,Ravidaasia's,Sikhs etc differently is DELIBERATE.

Giving encoragement to deravaad is DELIBERATE.

All this is being done to keep the people of Punjab confused and to encourage divisions ie "Divide and Rule.

The same badal who you seem to support saying that he is against Khalistan has already signed the declaration of Khalistan and Amritsar Elaan nama in 1994.This declaration was made at "Akal Takht" and given to "UN Secretary General Boutras Ghaali" .

Backing out of the Khalistan declaration and even Anandpur Sahib Resolution is DELIBERATE.

Bhai Bittu's party Akali Dal Panch pradhani were on a "peaceful"dharna outside parliament in Delhi for more than one year but it had no effect on shameless central govt and MPs of India.Ignoring greviences of the Sikhs by all Indian MPs in DELIBRATE.

Similarly Akali Dal Panch pradhani takes out a "peaceful"protest march every Sunday at Takht Damdama Sahib against Salabatpura dera of Sauda Saadh. But they are arrested every time.It has no effect on the shameless Badal.Ignoring the Sikh protests in DELIBRATE.

Sant Bhindranwale had declared to Sikhs in the presence of Badal ,Barnala and Longowal that "J koi vee Anandpur Sahib day matay ton pajdaa hai os nu beshak gaddi cherhaa deyo.... "

Longowal taan gaddi cherh gyaa per makaar Badal bachya hai ajay.

The baahman's and their govt are so shameless in India that it doesn't effect them unless they are hit hard. That is why they and their media are still crying over the 26/11 Bombay Attacks .Tune in on any tv channel in India and you'll find one or two of them crying over Bombay attacks daily. Those master minding the Bombay attack declared that it was just a trailor and the full film is pending. The baahmanvaadis understand only this language and they will get that only.
