Coventry Meeting Took It Too Far! Important & Urgent Meeting To Implement Nanakshahi Calendar And Respect For Dasam Granth Sahib Ji.

Recommended Posts

the funniest thing about this debate is that the one perso who actually stated what was said etc is being told that you got it all wrong.. perception i guess is the key... the reality is sikhs worldwide could never have ekta due to the way they have all been programmed to accept the truth as per their baba or leader etc... if we actually did khoj etc many questions would be answered.. many truths would be understood but sadly we are too busy being manipulated by others, taksal, akj, whatever... when something is wrong say it, to do ardas for sant ji being alive is wrong, to do nindiya of any gurmukh is wrong, to do parkash of dasam granth on par to Dhan guru granth sahib jee is wrong... the calendar issue seems to be a politcal one and I don't think it really matters on the basis everyone does what they want to do... my point is simple I have been a member of this board for some time and all I see is a lack of education and respect amongst member's nowadays, also we really need to stop the abuse.. we talk about doing nindiya etc but with the mouth we read gurbani and the mind we read gurbani we write such abuse.. come on khalsa ji let us adhere to sache pathshahsa simplest of hukams...

Vaheguru ji ka khalsa, Vaheguru ji ki fateh...

Ok...So what are the answers after you have done the khoj?

Your post suggest you know the answers as you are stating some the practices above are wrong?

Please refer back to bani.

Look forward to hearing from you :)

Nanakshahi Calendar - It is a political and panthic issue......the original nanakshahi was created to split the panth..which it did do......... the Bikrami calendar has come from Guru Ji's time........who are trhese ppl to messing everything up by ripping off another calnedar and calling it nanaksahi??....funny thing is with the original nanakshahi there were like 3/4 gupurbs on the same day at some points???

Now comon..use your effin head...does that sound right to you????

Spreading propaganda against Dasam Granth is a sikh issue. All sikhs of the world are concerned over this issue and will fight unitedly against enemies of panth whose mission is attack on Amrit sanchar of khalsa panth. You cann't consider it a local issue. AKJ in US and canada are with panth. It is only splinter group of akj in UK and Germany who have left principles of their parent organizations and have become traitro to sikh cause. They need to be exposed.

Coming to calender , Purewal gave carbon copy of Indian civil service calender to sikhs.Bikrami calender is a regional calender of Punjab followed by Hindus, Muslims and sikhs of Punjab. Indian govt adopted Hindu saka calender after modifying it in 1959.Purewal gave it to sikhs.

Read something below to know about facts

This is very old news item.No religion of world follow Solar calender for its religious days.

Purewal did a fraud with sikhs by foisting a solar calender on sikhs. It is good that it has been rectified to some extent.

For example Guru nanak dev ji was born on full moon night of kartik. It is foolishness to fix that day per solar calender.Below is worth reading

http://sikhsangat. org/2010/ 01/nanakshahi- calendar- was-it-made- to-unite- or-divide- sikhs/

Some people have created a stormy situation among Sikhs because of Nanakshahi Calender. Calender is an important landmark of a community that highlights important religious days, festivals, historical happenings and traditional heritage .But a calender in which dates do not match historical occasions will turn history into mythology. That was what present Nanakshahi calender was doing. This is particularly applicable to Sikhs who rightfully claim to have historical proofs of events in comparison to other religions.

The fact is that makers of this calender have distorted and misrepresented Gurbani, Sikh history and principles. Displaying ego and stubbornness they have created deep divisions among Sikhs.

We want to know while launching the calender in 2003 why Sikh scriptures and historical sources of 400 years were ignored.

  1. Bhai Gurdas ji writes " Gurbani tina Gursikhan bhaiye bhagat Gurupurab karande". it proves that Sikh sangat had been celebrating days connected with their Guru sahibans since Guru period . In light of this who gave authority to these persons to change the dates of Gurupurabs of Guru sahibans. By altering the real dates with self created dates they distorted Sikh history.
  2. Can these academics tell us about dates incorporated by them and from which historical scriptures these have been taken. We are sad to state that because of this faulty calender ardas of three to four Gurupurabs were being done from Harmandir sahib on the same day.Can these historians tell us if this really happened in Sikh history earlier. The fact is that four academics associated with this calender namely Dr Kirpal singh, Dr Balwant Singh, Dr Kharak Singh and Surjit Singh Gandhi wrote a book for SGPC " History of the Sikhs and their religion".In that book they themselves wrote dates that match with history and do not appear in their calender, That shows that they want to malign Sikh history by making a faulty calender.
  3. The calender they made was neither based on Gurbani nor on principles of Sikhism. This was devoid of historical facts.
  4. Those who are misleading Sikh sangat in name of Bikrami will they label our beloved Gurus also as wrong since their writings are written with reference to Bikrami samvat. Some examples are Given below:
    • Guru Nanak sahib writes in SGGS ji " Awan athatre jaan satanve hor bhi uthsi marad ka chela" Will they diown this reference from SGGS as it is in bikrami samvat.
    • Barah Mahan is with reference to Bikrami samvat. Shall we discard that?
    • Shall we discard such writings from gurbani?

From sixth master to tenth master and after that Mata Sunder Kaur ji and Mata Sahib Kaur ji have sent Hukamnamas to their sangat in Bikrami Samvat. Shall we disown those now?

On doors of Sachkhand Harmandir sahib, Goindwal sahib the dates are in Bikrami samvat. Do they want us to remove those?

We have some surprising facts about this calender. In actuality Nanakshahi calender was based on Hindu calender that was known as Saka calender. Saka calender was old Hindu religious calender. This was modified by Govt of India in 1959 and adopted as Indian civil calender. Nanakshahi Calender is carbon copy of that calender. This has been confirmed by its makers in preface of Nanakshahi calender. Pal Singh Purewal has written this in his book "Jantri 500 years". Sikh sangat should decide if Purewal is making a Hindu calender or some one else?

On the contrary , Bikrami Samvat calender was of Iranian origin and adapted by militant tribes of Punjab who made their mark in world history by putting a strong resistance against Alexander the great. They adopted it in 57 BC. This was known as Malva calender. History states that its name was changed to Bikrami calender in 858 AD. History also states that Raja Bikramidittaya was a mythological figure only. Bikrami calender is followed both Indian and Pakistan Punjabs.

In any religious calender world over there are no other festival and days but of that community. But this is not the case of Nanakshahi calender. Days associated with other communities are included in Purewal's calender. 27 per cent dates in Nanakshahi calender have nothing to do with Sikh religious observations. Akal takhat jathedar sahib, SGPC president are thanked for correcting the mess created by these people.

Also when santhiya of Charitropakhyan is done at DT, why are women not allowed to participate?

before you proceed further with your bukwas, may i know what is essence of charitropakhayan and what is wrong with it.Are you wiser than Guru sahib who wrote charitropakhayn.

Some persons are writing bukwas here without having any knowledge of sikh history and are dishing out propaganda tales. They need to know saroop compiled by Bhai mani singh ji was a composite one consisting of SGGS ji and dasam Granthn sahib.

When you celebrate you birthdays - do you do that by Bikrami calendar?

When you celebrate you anniversary's - do you do that by Bikrami calendar?

So why do it differently for Gurpurb's? Why follow brahmin ways according to the moon, sun, stars???

Gurus birthday are histroical dates and are observed per lunar calender. No religion on earth follow solar calender.

Bikrami calender is calender of Punjab and not of Hindus.Saka calender is a Hindu calender. Just as day ,night and evenings are not Hindu, in the same way lunar calender is not Hindu.

Guru Nanak dev ji was born on full moon of kartik. You cann't fix a date for his birthday as done by Purewal as his birthday should fall on full moon.

Bikrami Samvat calender was of Iranian origin and adapted by militant tribes of Punjab who made their mark in world history by putting a strong resistance against Alexander the great. They adopted it in 57 BC. This was known as Malva calender. History states that its name was changed to Bikrami calender in 858 AD. In the early 1970s, Santokh Singh (a Sikh scholar) from Chandigarh wrote a letter to the Shromani Gurudwara Parbandak Committee (S.G.P.C.) quering the authenticity of the Dasam Granth as being of Guru Gobind Singh ji's hand.

On 3rd August 1973, he received a reply from the S.G.P.C. stating: 'Chritter Pkhyan which are entered in the Dasam Granth, they are not the work of Guru Gobind Singh. They are ancient mythological stories of Hinduism.'('Dasam Granth Bareh Chonveh Lekh' by Principle Harbhajan Singh, P.122-123)

The above reply was sanctioned by the then S.G.P.C. Jathedar (commander) of the Akal Takht, Sadhu Singh Bhaura, Chet Singh (Head Granthi of Golden Temple), Kirpal Singh Granthi and Sohan Singh (Granthi of Golden Temple).

This is a piece of propaganda story that is circulated on the internet for the last so many years by kala afghana/ darshan singh elements, missioanries and neo sikh opponents of Dasam bani.

They have been challenged to produce that letter. They have failed to do so.Principal Harbhajan singh, a heretic missioanry, is the one who had started all this propaganda.

The fact is that there is no such letter.Moorakh ji has gone a little further and he has added names of jathedars also which is a naked lie.

Can you produce that letter here. If you fail to do so you should apologize to sangat.

Interestingly sadhu singh Bhaura was jathedar of akal takhat.he had made name in history by excommunicating Bhag singh Missionary who had disowned Chaupai sahib. Chaupai sahib forms part of charitropakhayan.

To dass ji

Guru nanak dev ji was born on kartik puranmashi and that falls in November. That is when sikhs are celebrating his birthday. Are you saying we have to find another day for his birthday now. may be new invention by heretics to undo sikh history.

Moorakh ji writes that there is a letter signed by Sadhu Singh Bhaura saying Charitropakhayan is not by Guru sahib.

Moorakh is should produce that letter. If he fails he should apologize for misleading sangat.

I didn't actually write that - I got it from somewhere! Why don't you prve to me that GGS wrote Charitropakhayan ??

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
