I have heard from some Sikhs that Sikhs should not drink tea/coffee? Why is this?

There is no fixed rule as such, but some choose not to drink tea or coffee. I used to need a cup of tea every morning and only realised how dependant on it I was when I went without it for a few days. It's the same story with coffee drinkers - some of them are different people until they get their coffee in the morning!

i understand medically its not good but had query on spiritual/sikhism level. although there is no rule i understand most practising or those who want to progress dont drink it? is that right?

As far as I know (even though I admit,I do drink 1 coffee, diluted one, in afternoon), they say its nasha as well. One gets addicted to it and when tries not to have it one day, get headaches. And sikhi doesn't want person to be addicted to anything except NAAM.

So in ideal world, we should not. We should drink milk instead.

But I do know tons of us do drink. But I don't think its sin either. But its one of those things that one should work on quitting. I can't use the term "if possible" as I know it is possible for each and everyone including me to quit.

Some people choose not to drink tea/coffee due the reasons that it has caffine, but where do u draw a line at what u can and cant eat. Coke has caffine as does chocolate. Its up to the individual whether they do or do not drink coffee/tea but to use caffine as an excuse or reason well next people will be saying dont have sugar as it is sweet and u can get high on a sugar fix. Decide what u feel you would want to do and not follow what others say or do.

GurSikhs dnt drink tea just coz its nusha if u think bout it everythings nusha tea coffee black pepper sugar but ive been told in the same plantation u have tea plants and also tabacoo plants so when photosynthesis takes place seeds can be crossed with one another !!
