Upgrade Amritsar Airport

Union Sports Minister M.S. Gill reiterated his appeal to civil aviation minister Praful Patel to upgrade the Amritsar airport to international standards. Gill had earlier headed the panel of Punjab’s parliamentarians who recommended the improvement of Amritsar airport; the panel submitted its report before the general elections of May, 2009.

“You are aware of my deep interest in the Amritsar International Airport. You had appointed me chairman of a committee of MPs before the May elections to give a report on steps to be taken. The report was submitted to you before the election but no action on any point seems to have taken place…,” Gill today wrote to Patel, asking him to give the Punjab airports - including the one at Chandigarh - their due.

The minister also reminded the Civil Aviation Ministry of the Punjab Assembly’s recommendation to name the Amritsar airport after Guru Ram Das. There is already a pending proposal to name the Chandigarh airport after Shaheed Bhagat Singh.

Whats the use when no international flights are using ATQ except "Qatar Airways" because of Delhi airport interference and high prices charged to airline for landing in amritsar. Punjab govt didn't fully develop ATQ (land prices were way low in rajasansi during 80s/90s) and now they want to develop two airports; one in chd and another one in mohali (?)

Isn't chd one is also based in or near Air Force base?

Amritsar airport: they are using buses to get passengers from airplane and farming tractors/trolley to fetch luggage :| The buses they use are probably worth less than basic maruti 800. (PURE JUNK and probably late 80's model) Any sane person will not expect business travelers to use that airport at all.

Literally punjabi don't want to see progress. The only progress they see is ugly looking huge standing "mall" on like 900sqft area? Or having thousands of marriage palaces with fake castle look frontage? They feel good by living fake life..

On a serious note , really Punjab people & politicos need to pull their socks up and strive for development . . Punjab is years behind ( or probably even a generation behind) other states in India sad.gif

    • This is where the vichola needs to get involved, and family!
    • Hi All, I havent been on this forum for a while but I thought id give it a try again as it helped me through some rough times earlier in my life. I wanted to seek for guidance on sikhi and marriage ... I noticed a post earlier on sanjog etc. and it got me thinking about my own life and marriage. For context, I have been married 3 years and things are not working out. When we met, I looked in to sanjog alot and it felt like it was written. However, as these years have gone by its become apparent that we no longer align with each other and our marriage is struggling. We dont seem to understand each other and things have fallen apart. We are at a stage now where separation/divorce is looking like the best option. Neither of us are happy and whilst we have tried to work things through in many different ways, after 3 years we have drifted away. What are the sikh views on this? is it written if we decide that we no longer serve each other? or is that a sin and should I continue to work at it? my issue at the moment is that it is draining me. I feel withdrawn from everything due to things going on between us including sikhi and going to the gurdwara.  Breaks my heart to even be writing this but I do think if we are both not happy and cant see a way of being happy then what is the point in continuing? Or should I be continuing and is it paap if we dont honour our laavan? if that is the case, what does sikhi say about marriage? how do I continue knowing everyday I feel the way I do?   Thanks

    • I'll use this place as my spiritual journal so if anyone wants to join then feel free to! I'm not sure if this could be classed as an experience but last week (or 2 weeks ago), I felt my saliva to be sweet however I lost it after a week. I don't really regret it though, if I lost it then it's Hukam Another point, I feel my concentration to be very good for a while, I can focus on the void for a longer period of time than I could before. I also feel a lot more Anand, it's all Guru di kirpa
