But the emotions take over the intellect if that makes sense.

Piarey veer ji,

as dass has said, stay busy. Dont allow your mind to be free. Keep it occupied.

Either in Gurbani/Naam Abhiyass/Kirtan or work(any house chores/applying for job). Go to Gurughar and sit in the Amrit Roopi Mandal of Sri Akhand Path Sahib and listen to Gurbani.

This girlfriend/boyfriend thingy is just not gurmat to start with. Never get involved in such things again.

Take care veer :)

I would just say that be PRACTICAL in life.

Haven't you heard of the saying

" No money, No honey ! "

First start with any job, support yourself financially.

This will help you gain confidence, trust me babes like that in a man !

As for Legal Sector, have you explored

http://www.lawsociety.org.uk/home.law

Get into the society and start making contacts.

"Think out of the box"

Some tips

1. If you wanna gain experience offer to work without salary (for certain period of time which you can add to C.V later).

2. Find a research study on Solicitors in London, you will learn a lot from that.

3. Make friends with sons-daughters of judges and solicitors.

4. Check whether any Sikh Solicitors or Judges have an Adult Single daughter. Father-in-laws can be Very Helpful.

General Advice

Always establish relationship with Genuine people (who walk the talk).

Don't get fooled because of the outer appearance, always check what's inside.

Haven't met a London born or brought up Sikh who respects honesty or honest people so "Best of Luck" .

Guest Harpreet Kaur

I am extremely depressed, I can’t find a job it’s been ages, when I finally found one they cancelled it the day before I was meant to start. The girl I was meant to marry left me because she said her dad won’t let marry out of caste. I told her for two years to ask her dad, she said it would he would be fine with it but then a few months ago she said her will not be okay with it and she cut me of her life in a matter of days. When I met her few years ago she was extremely depressed and I helped her through that time. I feel that people have always taken advantage of me. My friends used me when they needed help for work then stopped talking to me. I feel really lonely. My family always have a go at me for not working; I am trying my best to find a job. I no longer wake up for amrit vela and my motivation has gone, I feel so lonely. I can’t concentrate on anything anymore, my mind is always thinking and I can’t sleep properly. I feel nauseas through out the day. I feel like I would be better of dead.

WJK WJF, if its any consolation i know exactly how u feel, my friends in a similar posistion to you. im sorry to hear your girl left you, caste is such a stupid thing he call yourself 'singhs' and 'kaurs' but he dont even aknowlegde guru's hukham. life is a test, god may be testing your faith belive it or not, god tested mine when my baba ji passed away not so long ago, and the only thing that helped me threw that is gurbani, it made me feel relaxed and worryless. i woke up at amrit vela 3.30am eveyday but only to go bakc to asleep again. i understand your mum and dad are pressuring you at a difficult time that your facing and there not helping, take it everyday as it comes step by step. your a descent man who follows one of guru's hukham about helping others and that has all been noted by god. go to job centre and sort something out, explain your worries to your parents they might be more understanding that you might think. but please dont turn your back on waheguru!! prove to him that you will always remember him in good times and bad, god will not denie you, when you turn your back to god, god waits there for you 2 turn, thats how merciful god is. do naam japna at any chance you get listen to kirtan things will get better!!

bro glad to hear you are feeling better:)

yes let that b*** go and take the higher road, look at it like a release, you are free to start fresh and with a more stable life with more stable ppl to support you!

i would think you should get back into amritvela, yes you fail many times but as long as you try, do an ardaas wen you sleep so guru sahib will wake u up themselves in the morning, and i have got to agree with this person who posted about being "PRACTICAL"

theres all sorts of people in this world, i have married outside of caste and yea my relatives have a problem with that, my parents too somewhat, but i listen to guru gobind singh ji, and youw ill find others who think the same, so the world is full of ALL TYPES of people:)

NOW our job is to find a job for ourselves! so get intouch with sangat, look online, look for interviews, job openings, call up lawyers ( maybe apne ones) and get in contact with them, set up meetings and get hired:)

nothing comes without a struggle, nothing does, so dont look down, look at how many people in the US and even canada got laid off becuase of the recession, if they still have will, what about us, we havent been laid off and have no qualifications to go back, right? you have an education, doesnt that count for something?

so get up and lets go! go for it, reach for the stars and you will atleast end up above the ground:)

stay in chardi kala

The onl;y way to find god is to let go of any hopes you have for the world- when you do this and follow sikhi you'll see things properly.

You're almost a bairagee, this pain is a blessing- it's showed you the world is not a place that you should want to be- know that you're true home is beautiful and completely devoid of pain- This is where youtruly want to be and what you need to focus on, it may seem like a million miles away but you'll feel how peaceful it will be just by looking and Guru Nanak- the guru is heaven itself and meditating on him and naam jaap will bring you peace and put you in chardi kala.

Naam jap will make everything okay, even if to others you're life does not seem okay, nothing else will bring you peace, the world will always have pain and pleasure and every single person gets both unless you follow the right path.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
