Don't be so fast to judge... the BBC report doesn't give details about exactly what happened and who was present.

There were only a handful of people in the Divan due to the nagar kirtan taking place. This robbery was very very cleverly planned.

A 9 month baby was within the sangat and that was probably the main concern of others around. Sure Guru Granth Sahib Ji is the most important of all and there was no threat to Guru Ji. Probably because the robbers don't recognise Guru Ji as our Guru. The robbery took place in a matter of 5 minutes. I was literally grab and run. If a firearm wasn't involved and if the divan was full of sangat, im very much sure it would have been a different outcome altogether.

s50 is right, and thats what my feedback was on the incident. Too many Gurdwara in a city/town and not enough sangat to look after them. Traditionally Akhand Paath's should be done with 25 Amritdhari Singhs. 5 Singhs are always on duty in darbar sahib, from patthee to pehradhar. It's a shame the maryada has slacked all over the world.

The report is from the 26th of April, stating the incident took place the day before (25th). Glasgow Nagar Kirtan was on the 11th of April. I doubt it was a 4 figure sum, hardly anyone goes to what is referred to as the Bhatra Gurdwara

I personally doubted it was a 4 figure sum also, theres no need for that much money to be in a GuruGhar. Secondly theres no need to bring caste into this - a GuruGhar is for all not just for a group - regardless of names etc.

gurdwareh should have nihangs standing at the front doors with weapons to protect them like darbar sahib etc. shame this happened.

Every Gurdwara needs CCTV of the highest calibar and Security pehredaars 24/7 365 days a year ,something of this standard can only be achieved through a National Body Of Gurdwaras

CCTV's should be standard! that is why the Gurudwara in bow got burned because they had no CCTV cameras to catch the culprits. Committees want to built to biggest Gurudwara, get the press attention and forget about maintaining it!, forget about adding security and cctvs.
