ਅੰਨੈ ਬਿਨਾ ਨ ਹੋਇ ਸੁਕਾਲੁ ॥

annai binaa n hoe sukaal ||

Without this grain, time does not pass in peace.

ਤਜਿਐ ਅੰਨਿ ਨ ਮਿਲੈ ਗੁਪਾਲੁ ॥

thajiai ann n milai gupaal ||

Forsaking this grain, one does not meet the Lord of the World.

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਹਮ ਐਸੇ ਜਾਨਿਆ ॥

kahu kabeer ham aisae jaaniaa ||

It could very well be true Veerji for Rishi-munis back in the day could do such feats and more but all that falls under Ridhi-Sidh and Hath Yog, Sikhi has no place for that kind of mumbo-jumbo..

there's a method for people to live off air, but thier body has to be very pure for it to work. it's not riddhi siddhi as it's not an occult power, but it's completely natural. the energy channels in the body become so purified that energy from the air is enough. i think bhagat dhru ji or bhagat prahlad ji lived using this method. this method is for hardcore tapasvis, saves money too!

over time in sikhi (or any dharm) as our body is purified our need for food lessons bc we can extract greater amounts of energy from food. this is why many mahapurkhs only need to eat once a day. i imagine many of them can also completely go without food if they wish, but simply choose not to as they don't want to attract attention or perhaps they wish to give seva to others.

this reminds me of a sakhi of sant harnam singh ji rampur khera in which he meditated for a long period of time without food or water to test a shabad.
