** 10 AM TO 2 PM **

Wed 12th May 2010

A protest has been organised against the visit of Kamal Nath (Co Accused in 1984 Anti- Sikh Genocide) to the London Business School for 8th Annual India Business Forum which is a all day event at the campus.

It is important that we follow up on the Protests made against this Criminal in Canada and the USA.

Representatives of various Sikh and Non-Sikh Groups will be present as well as Human Rights Activists.

Leaflets and Flyers will be distributed informing by passers for the reason of the protest and what Kamal Nath has done over 25 years ago yet still hasn't been brought to book by the so called "World's Largest Democracy."

British General election results to be declared soon. Hopefully we can avoid a hung parliament so that a Government can be formed ASAP!

This will allow us to know who are MP's are so that we can lobby to them about Kamal Nath's visit.

Its good to see a collective effort by Sikh organisations in organising this protest. I Think the time is for ektaa as collectively we're a very powerful quam.

My only suggestion to BSSF is to not get invloved in issues that will further divide our quam and issues that really don't need to be brought up.

The following has been sent to the Sikh Channel:

EXPOSING KAMAL NATH’S INVOLVEMENT IN SIKH MASSACRE OF NOVEMBER 1984

Protest on Wednesday 12 May from 10am to 2pm

Location:

London Business School

Regent's Park

London

NW1 4SA

All Gurdwaras are encouraged to make announcements to the Sangat and arrange transport for the protest

The protest is not being organised by any one group, or a few organisations, but is a joint effort by any Sikh organisations/Gurdwaras that wish to come forward.

It needs to have a large youth/student presence. We are trying to involve non-Sikhs.

Please circulate this message widely via email, e-groups and discussion forums in the UK and make sure your local Gurdwara makes an announcement this week to the Sangat and arranges transport.

Kamal Nath is the current Indian Union Cabinet Minister of Road Transport and Highways. He was indicted by the Nanavati Commission on allegations that he was involved in the 1984 anti-Sikh massacre in Delhi. Eye witnesses placed Nath as the leader of the mob which burnt down a Gurdwara (Sikh Temple).

Till date Kamal Nath has not been punished but infact rewarded by the Indian Government with Promotions.

On 2 November 1984 Kamal Nath (current Indian Cabinet Minister) led and controlled a mob assault on Sri Rakaj Ganj Gurdwara (opposite the Indian Parliment), where 100s of Sikhs had taken refuge. After a seige that lasted a day, parts of the Gurdwara complex were put on fire and 2 Shaheed Singhs were burned alive by the mob.

--------------------------------------------------

Mr Nath may not have been charged in a court of law in India, as he says, but his "involvement" in the 1984 cases is a matter of much documented record as Manoj Mitta and HS Phoolka point out in their book. Extracts from the chapter titled: A Tale of Two Gurudwaras

***

[Page 49] ...Rakab Ganj Gurudwara, despite being across the street from Parliament House, was subjected to a prolonged siege in which its periphery was damaged, and two Sikhs were roasted alive. The attack on Rakab Ganj Gurudwara was also remarkable for the fact that it was probably the first, and so far, the only instance in the history of mass violence in India, where a political leader admitted to being on the spot. And such an instance ironically occurred in the immediate vicinity of India's parliament.

The leader in question was Kamal Nath, who was at the time of the 1984 carnage, an up and coming Congress MP from Madhya Pradesh, and is now a cabinet minister holding a key economic portfolio in the Manmohan Singh government. In a siege that lasted over five hours, Kamal Nath is said to have been there for over two hours.

Given the strategic location of Rakab Ganj Gurudwara, Kamal Nath's presence there was confirmed by two of the senior-most officers, Commissioner Subhash Tandan, and Additional Commissioner Guatam Kaul, as also by an independent source, The Indian Express reporter, Sanjay Suri.

This is more than could be said about any of the Congress MPs from Delhi, whether HKL Bhagat, Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar or Dharam Dass Shastri, as the charge of their complicity was based entirely on the testimony of victims...
