Vaheguru je ka Khalsa vaheguru je ke fateh je

Ok I'll get straight to the purpose of why dhass is posting.

A couple of months ago dhass was blessed with Guru Jes kirpa of Amrith..it was the best day of dhass's life..especially as dhass has been a self harm sufferer to due stress in the past years..now the problem is everything was going really well for last year or so and got even better since becoming amrithari..dh's started to see dhukh as sukh so life seemed like a beautiful thing but then suddenly in recent days dhass has startd to self harm again but dhass doent acknowledge it until afterwards..feel bit alone to at times but dhass tries to always remeber Guru je is with dhass all the time..

Anyone got any tips on how to resolve the relapse of selfharm? Dhass hates it and feels like dhass has let Guru je down by causing pain to the body which is only temporary dhass's...

Any help would be appreciated..thank you sangat je

Buddy, you should seek professional help. I'm not expert, but in most cases self-harm is related to a dopamine deficiency. It's not your fault, and no one is to blame.

Here's a link you might find useful.

You need to book an appointment with a doctor. They can put you in touch with specialists who deal with this on a daily basis and help you explore, or give you exercises to do, which will help get to the bottom of your self harming problem.

rolleyes.gif Self harming won't get you far and you won't gain anything from it, Who are you doing it for? It's truely not worth it.

Feeling lonely everyone one does and can lead to alot. But that's were you have to stay strong you have been blessed and taken Amrith very good step now work your way up.

Keeping busy-Distract yourself by going out listening to music anything that interests you, Talking to people you trust-The important thing is to find ways to start talking to someone you trust. It could be to a friend, a family member, a professional counsellor, a psychologist or a psychotherapist. Find another way to express your feelings.

Focus in your mind on positives and be kind to yourself!

Here is advice for you. See if you can use it.

You must have some hobby, wheather its drawing, knitting, coloring, painting, doing math puzzles, reading book, baking, cooking, or whatever in the world you keep your mind and hands busy with. These are the two parts of your body which direct you and make you do things. So keep them busy in these times of self harming. keep those hobby materials accessible to you. When mind directs you towards the urge of hurting you, pick up pen, cryons, color pencel and start dwelling on your hobby. Your mind and hands needs to be busy in those times.

Slowly slowly you will get better handle on your these 2 body parts. Its all mind's game. You need to give a way out to mind's ideas and energy which flows with it.

Try it. Even though you understand your problem, still mind is not under your control. you need to realize that time. You need to fight against it.

To do that, you need to find a way out to let that energy/urge flow somewhere else.

If nothing else, start exercising. e.g. some weight lifting or running on treadmill or on elliptical or go running outside. Whatever fits in your schedule/situation.

And remember Guru is Ang Sang. Above all, do prayer to Guru Sahib to help you out with your situation, to connect you with bani not self-harming.

Waheguru jee bhali karange. Listen to katha/keertan always. At times when you can't work on your hobbies, start reciting Chaupai sahib or do both at the same time. if chaupai sahib is not memorized, aim for 25 or more moolmantars. Mind is going to get entangled in counting and reciting bani correctly. it wont think of self harming any more.

waheguru ji,

Love the Body Guru Sahib has blessed u with,, when u are down or feel the need to cause self-harm start writing anything or even draw get those emotions out on paper, dont take them out on urself,

This Body is a gift, and without it we wouldnt be here, we were given it to use it by doing seva and bhagti,

I also reccomend doing seva at gurdwara, whereever u see is needed,

surround urself with positive sangat----> go to the gurdwara and read sukhmani sahib in sangati roop,

A couple years back i went thru emotions of being low which were caused by family problems and situations, i read bani which made my mind positive and i forget bout the problems,

at that point in my life the dukh made me turn to Maharaj but i forgot Maharaj once i was neutral and had no stresses, i had stopped reading bani,

then i started getting bad dreams --the past was haunting me and it made me feel very uneasy, i then started playing bani as much as i could, in my room and had it play at night too,

so look at the positive in the situation, its time to do more bani sangat and seva :)

just as there is night and day, there is dukh and sukh, its waves of the ocean say strong and hold onto Guru sahibs charan :) thats where the anand is, to be in Guru sahibs charan 24/7,

Remeber maharaj is Ang sang, u are never alone,

because there's kes on your body which is damaged/removed whilst self-harming, plus you could probably use any additional advice from the panj pyare while you're there.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
