ok so i am 14 years old, i belive in sikhi alot and have alot of trust in the gurus, i havent taken amrit yet but plan on taking it later this year.

resently in school i have experianced raceism, i was really shocked because i know the people who were being racist as they were close friends.

i have been in the school for 3 years and me and my class got on really well for 2 years and everything was going ok until he third year stared but the thing is they arnt raceist to me but they are to one of my friends but he is only half sikh and dosent even keep his hair and turben unlike me thats why he dosent tell hem to stop it so they carry on. now not only the people in my class are raceist but they have made there friends in other classes star too.

i have tried the saints way and tried talking it out with them and they said they wont anymore so now they do itt behind my back so i told teachers that i thought could do something about it but they didnt do anything, i tried talking to them again but their still raceist and they still take the mik out off sikhs and talk about turbans.

i know if i take a shaster out i would get expelled and would be uneducated ive tried using my fists but no luck.

sometimes it makes me think like i would be better off dead because there is no one i can go too.

1 thing that might work is if they knew that being raceist to sikhs comes with a price

what i mean is if the sadh sangat of sikhsangat could try and put pressure on him by seding emails and text messages telling them to stop being raceist to sikhs.

sadh sangat the more messages that are sent the more likely they are going to stop

sadh sangat can you please tell as many people about this and to e mail and text him as much as you can

do more paath, in ardass ask for chardikala, this will help you not be bothered by them. instead of getting upset, try to remember that peopel are caught in maya and so their actions stem from ignorance. their nindya will just put the bad karams of the person being slandered on their own head.

brother I would advise you to go straight to the head teacher of your school, get your parents involved to make a complaint. They think its funny to make fun out of turbans because social networks like Facebook and others that have not taken action to remove racist pages against Sikhs so it becomes the norm some ignorant kids grow up thinking its ok to make fun of the turban because no one stands up against this abuse however if it was a hijab or a jewish skull cap made fun off there would be serious consequences.

So best way to approach this is get your parents involved and get your parents to contact the local gurdwara committee chairman so that political pressure is applied that way you will have backing of more than you and your folks against the unacceptable abuse, which is also against the law so in theory if nothing was done you could get sue the school and get the media involved.

Harmeet, tell us which country you're in and which major city you're close to.

Once you tell us, as a collective we should be able to get you names and numbers of a person or organization that can contact you personally to help.

You've done a great job by trying to talk and by sticking up for your friend and by posting here. It's our turn to help you. Please follow up.

First of all, your one tough kid for standing up to all these guys. Think about it, all of them and one of you. True Singh indeed.

Get your parents involved, school is for learning not for dealing with these idiots. Let it motivate you... work really hard, be top of your class. I can promise you that they better you do in life the less of this crap you will have to take.

If you live on the west coast let me know, I would be happy to come to your school and have a talk with whoever needs a talking to.

Keep your chin up champ, its only making you stronger.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
