SRI DARBAR SAHIB MOCK-UP IN SOUTH INDIA OFFENDS SIKHS

Mock up of Sri Darbar Sahib with Hindu Idols in the city of Nashik

NASHIK, MAHARASHTRA - Before the Singh Sabha renaissance, in the late 19th century, puja and worshipping of Hindu idols at Sikh Gurdwaras was a common site – even the sacred Sri Darbar Sahib Harmandir Sahib complex was not spared at that time. Could the same situation re-occur? Possibly, but in another slightly twisted manner.

Commenting on this phenomenon , the famous British historian Max Arthur Macauliffe, concluded that Hinduism was like "the boa constrictor of the Indian forests" and when "petty enemy appears to worry it, it winds round its opponent, crushes it in its folds, and finally causes it to disappear in its capacious interior....Hinduism has embraced Sikhism in its folds; the still comparatively young religion is making a vigorous struggle for life, but its ultimate destruction is, it is apprehended, inevitable without State support."

The clever Brahmins in the form of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, Vishva Hindu Parishad and other right-wing Hindu lobbies have since discovered that if they cannot successfully install of Hindu deities inside Sikh Gurdwaras, they would instead build their own "Sikh Gurdwaras" inside Hindu complexes. This is in line with their belief that they recognize Sikhs as part of the greater Hindu pantheon.

Mock up of Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar

Recently, a Sikh organization, Young Sikh Leaders (YSL), filed a complaint to Sri Akal Takht Sahib regarding a mock-up replica that was created of Sri Darbar Sahib Harmandir Sahib in the central Indian city of Nashik (Nasik) in which large Hindu statutes of Ganesh (Ganpati) were installed at a makeshift "parkarma" and parkash of the Sacred Saroop of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji has been done inside the "Darbar Sahib", complete with Sikh Ragis and Granthis performing keertan "seva" as in the real Harmandir Sahib.

The idea of this entire arrangement is to mock and mimic the look and feel of Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar under the control of idol worshipping Brahmins. This is not the first time either. One wonders why the sacred Sri Darbar Sahib of the Sikhs is always made the target by these people. There are never reports of anyone setting up mock ups of Mecca or Medina, or of the Vatican.

According to YSL, this has been going on for the last four to five years, and the local Sikh community has turned a blind eye to all this and does not seem to be bothered with the ongoing beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and violation of the Sikh code of conduct which specifically forbids the performing of non-Sikh rituals and the installation of idols.

Similar Beadbi Cases on the Rise

Similar cases of intentionally intermixing of Sikh and Hindu rituals and traditions are occurring all over India and abroad, including the now infamous Nij Thao Mandir of Lachman Chela Ram. Recently it was discovered that around two thousand five hundred (2,500) Sacred Saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib were found torn-up, and soaking in filthy sewerage water at a warehouse owned by Lachman Chela Ram. Not too long ago, similar a mock of Sri Darbar Sahib was also created at Park Circus in Calcutta. Hindu idols were installed inside this complex also.

Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the local Sikh community need to be more vigilant about these ongoing sacrileges and stern action against the perpetrators. Otherwise to allow the continuation of such practices will further infuse into Sikhism the very Brahmin practices our Guru Sahibans condemned – and scholars like Macauliffe's forewarned over one hundred years ago.

After watching this all I can say is "What the :o "

Those 'Sikhs' need to be fixed up.

Its because we let the small things slide that these big things occur. We're too lenient!!!

We're just relying on people in India to sort this out because what can we do here when we are not living in Punjab?

Seriously i'm asking the question!!!

More Parchaar is needed in India (and not just in Punjab).

Gurdwarae in countries outside India need to step up and contribute towards parchar back 'home' instead of making massive Gurdwarae with hardly any Sikhi in them.

Imagine just in the UK if all Gurdwarae gave £1000/month and then you converted that into rupees!!!

I'm just thinking out loud I guess.

All I can say (and this includes me) is do your Path and make sure you represent Sikhi properly in your daily lives.

Suprisingly this sort of thing is so much more common in India then say in the UK. Not many people follow so called Babai and Pandits (atleast i dont think so) here in the UK even though they advertise in Des Pardes lol. Saying that i dont think RSS are prominent here.

in response to what you said, its unfortunate that parchaaraks who try to spread Sikhi are ridiculed and the subject of songs etc (thinking more of Dhadrianwala and Babbu Maan). ive listened to some of his Katha on Sikh Channel and think his Katha made alot of sense, so i assume he does more good then bad.

i think its a case of people seeing more of the bad in good people, and seeing more of the good in bad people.

I watched the video properly this doesn't seem like beadbi to me. Whoever built the place was trying to annoy us by copying sri harmandar sahib. But in the video (please correct me if I am wrong) the sri guru granth sahib is being given proper respect.... Its also in a separate room and the hindu shrines are outside... So whats the beadbi..

On a plus side it brings the sikhs and hindus together... All religions are equal REMEMBER... Doing matha tekhna to say for e.g. to vishnu maharaj for a hindu is the same for a sikh to bow down to dhan dhan sri guru granth sahib ji. Both are sargun saroop of waheguru....

BUT THE CASE WITH warehouse owned by Lachman Chela Ram is MAJOR BEADBI

This is like guru ji becoming shaheed for us 2500 times:@

But let me tell you that there is so much beadbi going on like I went to kalgaar gurdwar in india and they were slaughtering a sheep near sri guru granth sahib ji and I tried to stop it but there were too many ppl against me and I was lucky that they didn't kill me because I was from abroad... But they broke my leg as I wasn't strong enough...

What I am saying is that if you really want to make a difference first build your kamai like sant jarnail singh then you will have kirpa from waheguru to put an end to these things. Someone like me may have the courage to face the whole gurdwara but it is suisidal as I don't have kamai to do anything.....and don't have kirpa to make a difference...

Then I went to get some aid from another gurdwara and everyone there was bowing down to a tree and sitting around it and sri guru granth sahib ji was inside and noone was attending it.. But everyone was outside looking at the tree. That day was the worst day of my life but I couldn't do anything as I was in too much pain.

But learn from my lesson and defeat... that first you must become a saint then a warrior.. Today no one has the spirtual development to do anything..

So , you can justify someone trying to mock sikh practices ? Can't get lamer !dry.gif

Where does it say Vishnu is Sargun Saroop of Waheguru? In Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji it say Vishnu fell into egotism.

How is Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji been given proper respect when Guru Sahib say the idol worshippers are blind, mute and they will not cross over the terrifying world ocean. There are many ways to respect Guru Sahib and one of them is in practice of Gurbani teachinges. The most important respect is following Guru Sahib's teachinges. And these people in the video, whoever they be are not giving even a ounce of respect to Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji. What setting a room for Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is respect. Guru Sahib has no walls, no barriers. Guru Sahib sees all
