Grays-Sangat Prevents Party At Grays Gurdwara

The Pardaan has called for an emergency meeting with the committee to address the situation.

Although he agrees with the UK Sangats' concerns and openly expressed his refusal to the notion of meat, alcohol, parties etc being passed by the members (or local "sangat" as they like to be termed) of Grays Gurdwara by initially resigning and then being re-stated. The Pardaan seems to believe he is powerless against the "few "internal instigators who are still pushing the anti-Sikh activities through. The Grays Gurdwara committee have clear issues with regards to running a Guru Ghar under Sikh principles and need to "man up" to their responsibility rather than let 2 or 3 troublemakers run the show.

We again request the Pardaan to take a strong lead of the situation and not allow the anti-Panthic agitators to influence the maryada in the Gurdwara.

Its about time the committee and in particular the pardhaan stepped up in ensuring this issue is resolved swiftly. It just isnt acceptable to place the blame on others as ultimately the committee as a whole will be held accountable. While it is clear that there are a few trouble makers within Grays, the pardhaan still needs to take a stand and put an end to this beadbee.

This is getting beyond a joke these small minded Committee members with no other claim to fame think they can "vote" against the Sikh principles.

I would request that the Tv / Radio channels to interview these people and question them on how much real knowledge they have about Sikhi ie:

Can they read Gurmukhi / English?

Can they understand and recite Gurbani?

What SEVA have they done for the local Sangat or Community?

LETS SEE THE ACCOUNTS!

Having a meeting about a meeting about a meeting regarding ANTI-SIKH values is STUPID and only delays the result and gives the Khalsa more pain.

When I am investigating crime it's usually the big time drug dealers that instruct the antisocial teenagers to cause havoc locally this way taking police resources away from the main problem. It's a simple trick!!!!!

Many thanks to the sangat of Gurdwara Shri Guru Harkrishan Sahib Ji, Leicester for emphasising the responsibility of a Gurdwara committee in the letter they have addressed to Grays Gurdwara.

We are aware that the committee members of Grays are reading this thread and therefore urge the UK Sangat and Prabhandaks to communicate any dialogue or correspondence they have had with the committee of Grays Gurdwara.

As far as the UK Sangat have been told, an emergency committee meeting has been scheduled for 5pm tomorrow (Thursday 11 Nov). In this meeting the Pardaan (Gurdip Singh Dhillon) has announced that he will present the remaining members of the Gurdwara committee with a formal notion forbidding meat, alcohol, tobacco and parties on the entire estate of all the Gurdwara's properties and a confirmation of the adherence to the Akal Takht Sandesh of April 2006. Unfortunatly, the Pardaan will then leave it up to the remaining members of the committee to "decide".

In between now and then, it is requested that the influential Sikhs in the country contact the Grays Gurdwara Committee immediately in order to provide a steer so that the collective members of the Grays Gurdwara Committee are made aware of their obligation to Akal Takht Sahib (Supreme seat of Sikh authority and Sikh policy making) and Sikh Maryada.

What I heard is that the committee will shortly sign the letter providing the assurances that the UK Sangat wants. Let's hope that they follow through on this tomorrow in their meeting.

On another note, Singhs are being told the main person in Grays in favour of the party hall is ex-president of the gurdwara BALDEV SINGH GILL - he is apparently being two-faced with the UK Sangat and the people locally. If this is his position, such hypocrites need to be exposed if they don't admit their mistakes and follow Gurmat Maryada.

GRAYS - UPDATE

16 November 2010

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Further to the peaceful demonstration at Grays Gurdwara on Saturday 16 October, the UK Sangat resolved to give the Committee of Grays Gurdwara one month to confirm that they will comply with Akal Takhat Sahib's Sandesh, and to confirm that they will NOT allow meat, alcohol or tobacco, or parties to be held, on Gurdwara premises. That one month deadline has lapsed today on Tuesday 16 November. Sadly, the Gurdwara Committee have not provided the specific assurances that the UK Sangat demanded within the one month.

All Sikh Gurdwaras have an obligation to abide by the Akal Takhat Sahib issued maryada (protocol). It is an absolute disgrace that the Grays Gurdwara Committee have still not been able to confirm whether they will adhere to Akal Takhat Sahib's Sandesh.

However, the Committee have been at pains to point out to Satkaar Sevadaars that the delay has been due to the President of the Committee being in India for a long period of time, and that they will provide the assurances that have been requested by the UK Sangat within the next week (by 23 November 2010). Given this benti (request), Satkaar Sevadaars will update the UK Sangat on any developments in Grays as soon as possible, whilst being mindful that the sentiments of the UK Sangat will not be manipulated by the unfortunate petty local politics within Grays Gurdwara.

On a more general note, the campaign to eradicate all UK Gurdwaras of party halls which permit meat, alcohol and tobacco on their premises is extremely active. The UK Sangat is determined to tackle this issue in a peaceful, methodical and co-ordinated way. The UK Sangat is requested to continue with their pro-active efforts of engaging peacefully, courteously and firmly with the relevant Gurdwara committees. Please keep Satkaar Sevadaars informed of local developments. If required, Satkaar Sevadaars will assist local Sangat to escalate and resolve these issues, so that the satkaar and maryada for Sikh principles in all UK Gurdwaras is maintained.

In addition to the Grays and Edinburgh situations, the Sangat will shortly be provided details of a third Gurdwara (in Birmingham) which is refusing to comply with Akal Takhat Sahib's Sandesh. Akal Takhat Sahib has also been provided with the full details of the 15 or so Gurdwaras in the UK with party halls. Satkaar Sevadaars are awaiting an instruction from Akal Takhat Sahib regarding these 15 Gurdwara Committees. All such Gurdwaras are requested to renounce as soon as possible their anti-Sikh activities and make their institutions ones which enable our Guru's principles to flourish.

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Satkaar Sevadaars ??

I do think that the Satkaar committee are doing an excellent job, but for the sake of transperancy, that is lacking with the elder generation and one the youth question, could we plaese have the names of those that are leading this campaign from Satkaar ?

The way I see it, the Satkaar campaign is clearly being co-ordinanted the UK Sangat! If you want a name of the leader of the Satkaar campaign then it's Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaj. You can get any better transparency than that!

In that case anybody could set up a campaign and say that, in fact the reality is a lot do say that. Leadership is about being up front and showing a commitment not hiding behind a web site or mobile number. The Guru granth sahib provides spirtual and moral guidance, which needs to be implemented by the 'Khalsa' and Gurusikhs'.
