Yes thats probably the main reason for the "open" meeting....... if the dudley "sangat" (any tom,<banned word filter activated> or harry from the brittainia pub) wants maas shaaarab then who are we to stop them..... they might as well as vote for strippers as well in that case as it will have a good chance of getting passed :-)!!!

Post deleted due to request by 'integratedresettle'.

That's sad. It will always remain a Gurudwara building because the sangat's money was used to buy / build it. The only way it will become non-Gurudwara affiliated is if somebody outside of the community buys it.

Why can't they leave it as a place for the kid's martial art lessons or a nice little library? Seeing as the government are closing down public libraries in the UK, it would be a nice gesture for the wider community who could also have access to it. I'm sure they could derive an income stream from the building that doesn't depend on alcohol, meat and parties.

is it tru that 1 of the committee guys have resigned? lol, he probably chickened out bcuz of all of this stuff going down. why did he get scared and run i wonder?

Perhaps he resigned out of principle. I have done that myself and often it's the strongest statement to make to the remaining members of the committee.

At the end of the day, I personally would never want to be associated with a committee who will go down in our modern history as the ones who abused the Guru Ghar and served meat, sharab and allowed dancing on the Guru Ghar's jagir, similar to some of the masands and mahants of the past. Let's be honest and put this situation into context. The maha beadbi and paap that Mahant Narian Das carried out in Nankana Sahib almost 100 years ago lead to the Gurdwara Sudhar Lehar where Sangat took control of our Guru Ghars to bring back Sikh principles, so now what is different in modern times when committees like GNSS Dudley pour sharab in the jagirs of the Guru?? Does this not deserve the same reaction from the Panth? Why is it that only 250 British Sikhs were pained by what was happening in Grays Gurdwara and went to protest and the remaining 499,750 Sikhs just carried on ignoring any issues by burying their heads in the ground?

At least this committee guy has the sense to abondon these abusers of the Gurdwara. I hope he stands with the rest of us when the time comes and we need to stand united against bad committees like this.

If this committee member has resigned, it's a bold step. If the committee are acting like mahants in Gurdwaras, and using sangat income for their personal pleasures rather than Gurmat, then it is better not to be associated with such people.

These committee members will have their come-uppance at some point. If they think they can do their "chalaakiaan" and create a separate charity/committee to think they will stop the sangat complaining about their actions, they are living in cloud cuckoo land. Bottom line is that sangat money has been used to fund the hall. Therefore, no meat and alcohol. Guroo Jee will do his kirpaa and the continued arrogance of these committee means they will get sajaa in this world and in dharam raaj, unless they change their ways.

This is a great example of how far manmukhs are willing to go in order to protect their manmukh activities! The easy answer for the committee is to do their seva and implement Gurdwara maryada. Instead they are thinking of ways to bend the rules to suit their means. Dudley sangat deserve better than this committee who are creating doubt in the minds of the sangat and continue to mislead. Shameful behaviour....

Mod Note: This will be allowed to remain as it was a request by a member of the committee themselves for the information of the sangat. Giani Sukha Singh is known to be a respected member of the sikh community and therefore sikhsangat has faith that this is indead a genuine request.

why r u all assuming that he's a hero and did it for good reasons? i think he sold out. shudve stuck with the committee. and i heard he's a youth. it jus goes to show that when the s*** hits the fan, they all run...

Great, so the rest of the committee who want to continue with allowing meat and alcohol in the Gurdwara are the real heroes?

The s*** has hit the fan for those who dont want to adhere to Gurdwara Maryada. The gravy train has come to its last stop. It's time for the committee to change it's selfish ways.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
