No to Khalistan as the population of Punjab do not want it.

The people of Punjab - half are non-sikh and the other half are mostly like the "freshies" celebrating the Indian victory over Pakistan.

Only when the overwhelming majority of the Punjab population demand Khalistan will it become realistic. In my experience the vast majority of people in Punjab just laugh at the notion of Khalistan.

Unfortunately cannot see this happening as the majority of Sikhs are leaving Punjab/India for the west or moving to cities outside Punjab for economic reasons, eg Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore. Moreover you have an increasing number of non-sikhs moving into Punjab from Bihar etc. Soon Sikhs will be a minority in Punjab and Khalistan will become even more unrealisic.

I hate to admit it, but the above post is right. Many Sikhs outside want a Khalistan, while only a handful want it in Punjab. It is due to the government pumping drugs and alcohol into Punjab to screw the youth/even elders. On the other side the Bibian are taken care of by Deras. This way youth are unaware of Sikhi, their past and Khalistan. I'd say that about 90% of Doaba youth is now cleanshaven. I have seen that most youth come to know about that after coming to here. The only people that knew of this were from Majha area. Maybe it is due to the fact that Majha was the area that suffered most (Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, etc)

Only mistake in your post is that the migrants are Biharis. Actually of the 1 million migrants, only 200,000 are from Bihar. Rest are from Uttar Pradesh and Haryana. But when speaking we do club all of them togheter under the term Bhaiya.

There are many solutions to our problems, but nobody is willing to listen. Everyone is busy in their own lives.

1. By sending even 2 dedicated GurSikhs per village, we could get 5-15 youth interested into Sikhi by some hardcore parchaar.

2. The influx of these Bhaiya immigrants can be stopped? How ? There are more than 2 million poor Sikhs living UNDER the poverty line in other states (tribal Sikhs), why don't they rehabilitate them to Punjab? Instead our organisations (the very few that work for them in the first place), build them houses and gurdwaras in their states, which is kind of unnecessary if it can be solved in another way.

Let me tell you something ; My wife is from India and has a good university education etc but..... It was only when she came to England that she learn't. for the first time in her life, that Punjab used to be a totaly seperate Kingdom. It was only when she came to England that she learn't the supreme difference between what were formerly princely states within an umbrella of 'India' and totaly seperate suzerainties.....a type of suzerainty that grants autonomy to princely states. It was only when she came to england that she learn't what happened in Delhi in 1984. It was only when she came to england that she learn't what happened in Punjab from 1984 to 1992. It was only when she came to England that she learn't what tricks are lies were used to make Punjab part of India in the first place. This list is endless. I could go on and on with it. The point though, is that it is not the fault of the Sikhs in Punjab that they believe what they believe. They, unfortunately, have not been taught the truth in their schools and colleges, media etc. They have been force fed lies for generations. Any Sikh living amongst them that knew the truth was killed by the Indians between 1984 and 1992. Once you educate them about their glorious history they show themselves to be the most passionate Khalistanis of all.

If today 2011 khalistan is made it will surely end up in sikh civil war ... may it be based on caste system ... may it be based on jatha system or may it be based mona vs kesadhari sikh etc ... and it can be predicted just by looking at sikh sangat forum ...

How it will start lets say khalistan is made today what whould be the very first thing change mareyada of akal takth sahib ... at that very point swords would come out between all the major jathebandis ...

Till we dont have sense of listening which requires far more control and energy then using sense of speaking which we are champions at its sure that khalistan keeping the in mind mindset of sikhs today it would end up sikhs killing sikhs on the name of guru and mareyada ...

That's why it's SO important to frankly, openly and honestly discuss the issues at hand even before we make a move for Khalistan, so that when it happens, we wont be plagued by them afterwards.

It's just a shame that some people seem to stifle this debate so often.

I very much agree with you guys....it is importsnt to discuss the issues involved. If you recall the Iranian revolution you'll remember that the people behind it......calling for the return frome Paris of Khomenei....were very westernised men and women........Non veil wearing....skirt wearing women.....shirt and tie wearing men. They had no inkiling of the theocracy that would result.

This is important as far as 'Khalistan' is concerned because i'm sure you'll agree with me when i say that for every religious Sikh that wants a Khalistan there are 3 not very religious Punjabi nationalists that want a Khalistan even more. In fact, if my own acquintaces are an accurate reflection, I would say that it is the mone sikhs with an immense sense of pride in Punjab and an immense depth of knowledge about Punjabi culture and history that want Khalistan far more than truly religious amritdhari sikhs. They want a Sikh Kingdom but they want it ruled on the same basis as Ranjit singh's kingdom. Where Sikhi is respected and protected but so is Punjabyiat. So what I'm saying is that although there are many sikhs that want a Khalistan in order to save Sikhi from extinction there are even more that want a Khalistan in order to save Punjabyiat from extinction.

IF the people of punjab don't want Khalistan, then it should not be pushed on them. It's been said before and I'll say it again. The people in Punjab and in other states need to be taught about Gurmat all over again. Only then will the oppressed be able to see what kind of state they are in and what needs to be done. The parchar needs to start with Gurmat in Punjab and then watch the people of Punjab want slavery to be lifted from them. The teaching of Satguru Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj needs to be taught first before the sword can be carried in the Tenth form of Satguru Sri Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji Maharaj.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
