AMENNNNNNN! :respect::respect::respect::respect::respect::respect::respect::respect:

Gupt kirpan like janeeou? Are we going to keep Gupt kesh And Gupt turban also. What's the end to these new rules? If you are thinking ahead then we need serious people getting together and finding a good solution.

Firstly how you would even go about keeping a Gupt dastar I don't know... Perhaps walk around with a box covering your head like the guy in 4 lions? And Gupt hair?...*sigh*

Secondly people who are unaware about what a kirpan is may be slightly intimidated or scared, whereas I doubt someone is scared of someone with a beard.

If you are suggesting that we wear large foot long kirpans on the outside of our clothes then end well this will not.

kirpan under clothes = good solution if you don't want to bring attention to yourself

I remember many years ago I went to magistrates court in Wolverhampton. I was searched by security and they asked me to take my kiirpan off. When I refused

He said " u can wear a small one round your neck and go in" after further refusal the security said they have been advised by soho road gurdwara that

You can wear one round your neck. I'm not saying that they are involved in this drayton manor issue but I am witness to what I was told at court.

I know no other jatha or samparda that encourages or wears a small kanga or kit an round there neck

If you think .....it defeats the whole purpose of making khalsa roop visible ? Indirectly and slowly hiding our identity and hiding kirpan is a step in that direction.

What solution do you suggest?

I think realistically, people will never be okay with wearing kirpans publicly. Its not a "new rule". Older generations have always wore their kirpans underneath their clothing.

It's not IDEAL, but its REALISTIC.

Je kirpan pauni hai tan dikai deve . Gupt pai ja na pai ekko gal . Some kakaars are meant to be visible some are not. There is logic behind everything which unfortunately many of us are missing. I m only saying kirpan kara dastar must be visible as were in olden times otherwise that identity will slowly fade away. This is a major setback or compromise if we.conceal kirpan at the expense.of living abroad.

Just seen on Sikh Channel that Drayton Manor kicked out Sikh Youth for carring a Kirpan, and told him if he want to stay in park and go on rides he must remove his Kirpan & wear a 1" Kirpan on a chain around his neck...! <img src='http://www.sikhsangat.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/<Edited>.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':<Edited>:' /> <img src='http://www.sikhsangat.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/<Edited>.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':<Edited>:' />

I don't know how old you are but grow up.

like the 2nd poster stated, there's better ways of dealing with this instead of making the image of Sikhi some radical non tolerant organization. How do the muslims appears to you in the UK making their sharia law demands and what not? your following a path that will take away more then your asking for in return.

where does it say you must wear it on top of your cloths? why does it hurt to keep it concealed? do people really lose common sense when their 'self claimed' opinions of sikhi come into play.

Think educated, act educated, stop being ignorant and learn to think outside of the box. you and your organisation is not the only thing that exists and needs to be catered too. If its that big of a problem for you then maybe you should go to a place or park where your personalized standards are met your majesty.

You are apart of the problem, become apart of the solution.

I am really suprised at your comments. For a Singh who has such a beautiful Khalsa Roop, tall dumalla, bana and Kirpan over the top, your comments are worrying. Why should the Singh go Pesh???? He has not done anything wrong! What promise are you on about??? We adhere to one promise, and that is to follow the Rehat given by Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj.

If our dharam parchar committee's of Ramgharia Gurdwara coventry are saying this, then what help have we got?

I think "Bored" is the most educated amongst us here on this forum.

don't compare religious freedom and religious extremism.

wearing a kirpan(even if it is not concealed) is part of sikhism and never heard someones endangered life or threatened someone etc. as long as it is not a threat to anyone (so far) it should be allowed without discrimination.

and REMEMBER CONCEALING A KIRPAN WOULD BE JUST LIKE ANYONE CONCEALING A KNIFE maybe for reasons not clear or evident and COULD BE TAKEN DIFFERENTLY BY THE PUBLIC. if you are showing that you are wearing it then it is no longer a surprise and should be acceptable to the general public (most of them know who sikhs are?)

whereas shariah laws and the related extremism is very much evident and therefore being opposed.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
