This is a disgrace - Sikhs in Southall are no better off than the Sikhs in Punjab - how come we have allowed such views and people to power over us in the UK?

Can we confirm that as a Charity ALL the Committee of the Singh Sabha have had a CRB check if not why not?

Gurmukhi and Gatka classes should be encouraged NOT stopped. Raj Karega KHALSA!

This is a very good point, maybe the sevadars wont bring this up themselves but we as the sangat have every right to ask if they have been checked.

from election time i remember all candidates had to be CRB checked , which were kept confidential,

so all of them would have a CRB done,

So now sohi has decided to CRB check sevadars, who teach the kids, why not check every other gurumukh who wants to do seva as well since they have contact with kids, what hext, anyone who wants to serve langer must be checked, anyone who takes a thal from a kid to wash probably has to be checked, anyone who wants to clean the shoes of teh sangat should be checked in case the kid come bck while hes still clesaning them.;

JUst stupid and ridiculous

Every week 300 kids and there parents come to the gurudwara because it is easy to get to, and while teh kids are learning the parents can do seva or listen to the keertan and katha.

What sohi really cares about is money, the punjabi classes take up all the bookings for friday and saturday nights, so he cant charge for sukhmani sahib paths.

Thats right, he said he does not want to the classes to effect the sukhmani Sahib paaths, but sometimes there is a clash so the children go upstairs, there is a largish area for the classes, its not ideal as the class grows but its never been a problem before.

Generally most people seem to have the paaths during the day, he is being very petty, he cant get his way so has to find some other obtacles for them.

I have attached some pictures from the morning of the nagar kirtan, it was an amazing sight to see all these young children in their full bana, how this could upset any gursikh if anything it should inspire him to further encourage classes like this, it shows his priorities are not for the sangat.....

  • 2 months later...

UPDATE, they are continuing to put obstacles in the punjabi/gatka schools way, they have changed the times of the sukhmani sahib paaths to coincide with saturday class, so 300 children have to squeeze into hallway on top floor, in Sunday gone they locked gates to field in khalsa school to stop the gatka classes, and have told them they need to pay £2100 for use of field for sikhi camp, this camp is meant to be free and done out of seva for 3 days end of this month, it puts this in jeopardy now.

He is being very sly about this, at no point has he tried to cancel all classes out right but he has made it near impossible to run them in their current format, ie WITH SEVA AND ALL FREE!

how much support would we get if this was taken to the charities commission?? and question their independance....also using the gurdwara for private advantage as another topic mentions them organising a speed dating event which was advertised in the gurdwara..

The photos are BRILLIANT they filled me with so much JOY that these youngsters are developing a love for Sikhi. Only a MOORAKH would want to stop these classes.

Don't people have any fear of Waheguru nowadays?

waheguru waheguru waheguru waheguru waheguru

Sohi's a dunce. You guys, on the other hand, are highly educated and smart. And yet he's outsmarting you. Its time to start using your brains. You can't do a CRB check on him but there's plenty of other ways of finding skeletons in his cupboard and publicly shaming him. Look into his business interests...........look into his taxes.....look into the licences he may hold (such as licence to sell alcohol). I know....you know and even the dog knows he's on the payroll of the Indian government. Nothing we can do about that....but it wouldn't be difficult to get the inland revenue to take an active interest in him.

There are many ways to win a war. You won't do it by fighting the battle in exactly the way that your enemy favours. Stop fighting him in his fresh off the boat middle aged way.....and start fighting him in your western born young way.

Perhaps the time has come for you people to stop putting money in the gohlak, and instead saving it yourselves for investing on your own projects. Why give your money to someone who refuses to give it for the welfare and promotion of Sikhi?

Yes I agree. Also, the solution isn't to open another Gurudwara. That doesn't solve anything.

the whole election process needs to be changed, rules bought in about how long a president can hold post for, etc etc, but this wont happen without the sangat, this isnt about i like so and so president or i like that other geezer, its about a fundamental change, giving the gurdwara to the sangat. Problem is the sangat have to care and most are blind to the politics and just vote the face they know.

will take a lot of changes to peoples thinking, and it has to be done carefuly because the last thing we want is confrontation, we have had that all before in the 80's 90's with police coming into havelock road to break up fights.

any other ideas?
