Never Say Operation Bluestar, Its Ghallughara Bluestar

GurSikho, the term "operation" is used to describe removal of a tumor. Have we become so shameless that we use this term coined by the Indian government and continue to refer to those jujharoo shaheeds as "tumor"? Every GurSikh should therefore refer to this incident as "GHALLUGHARA BLUESTAR", and not operation Bluestar.

According to Tarlochan Singh (Chairman of NCM) on Sangat TV today just that - he said we should only refer to the attack on Sri Harmandar Sahib (attack on Sikhi) in 1984 as a Ghallughara/Genocide!

The term operation does not just mean removal of a tumor.

Anyway the codename for the attack was called "operation bluestar" there is nothing wrong with using this term. If we change it then that will just confuse the matter

It sounds ridiculous to you because it obviously differs from your way of thinking. Also, I started off my message addressing GurSikhs, who I believe do not brush aside a differing opinion as "ridiculous", so don't worry about commenting. As for re-naming "Bluestar", yes that is the name given by the government too, and as "Into the Light" said, there are people who prefer to use just "Ghallughara" for the attack on Sri Darbar Sahib. I wasn't aware that such a claim was made by anyone. If you do not subscribe to this, by all means, please continue to refer to it as an "operation". No one will take you to court for it. However, those brothers and sisters of mine who find it shameful may tend to disagree.

I also agree with MS1NGH that an "operation" per say may not always refer to removal of tumor. However, in this particular case, the sense in which it was coined was indeed to refer to the jujharoo shaheed Singhs/Singhnees as a sort of tumor that needed to be taken out. MS1NGH, please explain as to what kind of confusion would it create if we referred to it as "Ghallughara Bluestar".

this is alittle off topic.... but i explained to my mum the attack was codenamed operation bluestar because blue is the colour of the akaali's... the khalsa uniform... sant jis dastar is also blue... also sant ji was refered to as the rising star (this is what another sikh had told me)....

my mum said when indira died it should have been code named operation yellow sari :laugh2:

As for the name change, well it can be called anything to be honest. Some people don't even know what a Ghallughara is let alone pronounce it. Besides many things need to be addressed BEFORE trivial things as name changes.
