Panj Granthi?

Naam simran is understanding the teaching of Guru , not a repetition of some words or banis.

You need to learn basics of sikhism before you criticize its concepts.

Read sikh rehat maryada. Naam simran is certainly repetition of Gurmantra.

as you wrote"completion of panj granthi equal to doing 101 japji sahib da jaap" what is meaning of doing 101 japji if you don't understand the message or concept of Guru.

Concept is to give bani a place in your heart not on toung.

As water has to pass through neck to finish thrust , bani has to go deep into soul by understanding the meaning.other wise as per ASA Ki War >> parh parh gadeh ladhian ............... will be and is true.

This is what Maharaj says in Sri Anand Sahib da paat:

sdw isPiq slwh qyrI nwmu min vswvey ] (917-7, rwmklI, mÚ 3)

sadaa sifat salaah tayree naam man vasaava-ay.

Constantly singing Your Praises and Glories, Your Name is enshrined in the mind. ang sung 917

So there is a point on doing 101 Sri Japji Sahib da paat

Ravinderkonkon - Different Bani's have different rewards - when Satguru Sri Guru Arjan Dev Ji were composing Gurbani at Amritsar Darbar Sahib, they had reached Basant Ki //. The Langari approached Guru Sahib and said that langar is ready please partake first and then the sangat will eat after you. Guru Sahib Ji said that it is disrespect to leave food ready to be eaten so i shall conclude Basant Ki // at this point where only a couple of pauris had been written. Bhai Gurdas Ji said to Guru Ji that this bani is very short and then Guru Arjan Dev Ji said don't worry whoever is to redite this bani will receive the merit of doing 1 jaap of Sukhmani Sahib.

panj granthi being equal to 101 Jap Ji Sahib was what i heard in a Giani Takhur Singh Katha but i can't remember which mp3 it was.

where did you hear this about Basant ki //

I think Thakur Singh did not have any proof about this story and some times he is adding manmat in sikhism , eg in one of his lacture he said " some one saw 10 feet saheed singh " where is justification?

All guru sahibs were against "kautaks" , he is showing singhs doing kautaks as hindu gods. This is not gurmat , go and watch some video clips at"######"

This is from "anand sahib' and guru taking about NAAM , his (god) naam

Yes it is from Sri Anand Sahib da paat and yes Satguru is speaking about Sri Waheguru ji's naam. But you forgot to speak about the first half of the tuk. Satguru is telling us how to enshrine the naam in the mind. The technique Satguru says is to constantly singh his praises and glories. You said what is the point of doing 101 Sri Japji Sahib da paat and this tuk from Sri Anand Sahib da paat gives you the answer. This tuk supports the technique of constantly singing Sri Japji Sahib da paat or any other paat or shabad and then the naam will be enshrined in the mind.

Why did you put Anand Sahib in quotations?

the sakhi of basant ki // is taken from sooraj prakash and other historical granths, and shaheed singh's being 10ft tall is something i have read and heard of many times - so i dont think any of these are manmat.

RavinderKon i can see that you joined this forum last month, you seem to be of another new batch of people who use this forum to just confuse and dilute the traditional teachings of our great religion, please may SS be wary of this person

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
