Is Sikhi Supposed To Be "Better" Then All The Religions?

My parents invited a very famous raagi at the house and he was talking to me. i am 15, but yeah he asked me if sikhi is good a religion and better then others. Well all i said was "every religion is same, but with different beliefs". My dad started laughing and i thought i made a mistake in saying that. But is sikhi better then other religions? aren't they all and we all equal?

In the end , whatever floats your boat ....I don't rely on religion much , becoz it never helped me practically in life

It is a totally false argument that Sikhism believes all paths lead to the same goal and thus all religions are equal. From its very inception, Gurmat (the Guru’s Path) has been declared a unique and distinct path.

Bhai Gurdaas jee writes: “In the world, Guru Nanak Sahib Ji established the authority (of his doctrines) and started a Path (of religion), devoid of any impurity.” (Vaar 1, Pauree 45 – Bhai Gurdaas Ji)

The claim that all paths lead to the same goal is covered in Bhai Sahib Randheer Singh ji’s book ‘Anhad Shabad Dasam Duar - Open discussion of unstruck ethereal music at tenth door of divine-abode’ - pages 46-47:

"The Liberation-state of Gurmat is unique and different in concept from other religious faiths. Liberation is not the mere ending-up of the human body or just an escapement of the soul from its bodily cage. Some envisage liberation as riddance from afflictions associated with the human body. They believe liberation is unattainable as so long as the soul is caged within the human body. Others identify liberation as the fulfillment of their desires to abide in a heavenly abode. However, this kind of liberation falls very short compared to the Gurmat concept of liberation. Liberation is not the banishment of imagined pain and sorrow, nor can it be described as the disassociation of the soul-being from materialism. Yogic faith conceives liberation as empty consciousness through meditational practices that bear no semblance to the Gurmat concept. They find True Liberation within this Love-Divine...Their Liberation lies in the sole occupation of Naam-Devotion, in accordance with Gurmat. This supreme state is reached through complete dedication, when one takes refuge within The Guru...what is not sought is a form of liberation devoid of God-Realisation."

If we use this viewpoint to analyse some mainstream schools of thought, we may reach the following conclusions:

In Hindu or Vedantic traditions, Liberation = various states according to different schools i.e. freedom from transmigration, realisation of self as God (Sohang) etc. In Buddhism, Liberation = escape from desires / realisation of the nature of self / Nirvana. In Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, Liberation = heavenly abode

In Sikhism, Liberation = absorption into Waheguru/Naam, the destruction of self/ego, the merging of Aatma (soul) into ParAatma (Universal Soul) - all of which can only be achieved through complete dedication to The Guru's teachings.

The concept of equality exemplified by Sikhi is not the result of a debate concerning religions. The Sikh concept of equality is an inward and outward acceptance of all and seeing everyone as a soul with the same divine father, rather than religious labels, which results directly from the practice of Sri Guru Granth Sahib jee's teachings.When it comes to true enlightenment, or liberation, Guru jee is very clear about its unique nature and definition within Gurmat; and in doing so we are taught who and what really is The True Teacher. Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji over and over stresses the importance of "Gurmat Naam". Without Gurmat Naam no one can merge in Waheguru or reach ‘Sach Khand’ (the spiritual Realm of Truth). In the House of Guru Nanak only Naam is found, the only tool to experience and merge into God.

Truth cannot be confined to a religion, Truth is God, how can He be confined to one religion. Hence the statement 'No Hindu No Muslim'. Hence once the bhagats get deep into their simran(attunement to the frequency of God/Truth/Gyan/Guru/Gurbani) and bhagti, they are able to write their own verses having not only read the gyan from their own Guru/Gurbani and implemented its instructions/gyan, but also expereinced/discovered it physically first hand- The discovery becomes their own.

I believe that a person of any religion (or even without any religion at all) can reach God and be liberated if they do simran (remembrance of the Timeless and Formless God)... In that sense all religions are the same. If you read the holy scriptures of different religions, and especially books and poetry written by the saints and mystics in different traditions, the core message is amazingly similar in all of them! So what you said seems 100% correct to me.

is to chant the Name of the Lord and maintain pure conduct.

Another Shabad:

ਸਭ ਤੇ ਊਤਮ ਇਹੁ ਕਰਮੁ ||

This is the most exalted deed.

ਸਗਲ ਧਰਮ ਮਹਿ ਸ੍ਰੇਸਟ ਧਰਮੁ ||

Of all faiths, this is the most sublime and excellent faith.

ਹਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਤੇਰਾ ਹੋਇ ਉਧਾਰੁ ||

Meditating in remembrance on the Lord, you shall be saved.

All religions are respect worthy but definitely not equal.

The way i see it is that other religions have glimpses of truth but Gurmat is complely True. If all paths were the same and equal to Gurmat then that would indicate that all the prophets of all the world religions are equal to Guru Nanak Dev Jee.

I strongly suggest everyone read Sant Gurbachan Singh Bhindranwale's katha of Japjee Sahib which was compiled into a Granth by Sant Kartaar Singh. In the beiginning Sant Gurbachan Singh talks of the 6 types of Avtars (messengers) and then finally says that Guru Nanak Dev Jee doesn't fit into any of the 6 as he was above the Avtaarhood. Sant Jee then goes further to compare both Sri Krishan Bhagvaan & Sri Ramchandar Jee with Guru Nanak Dev Jee and how they both cannot be compared with Guru Nanak Dev Jee.

All religions/paths are not equal..and cannot be equated as equal to Gurmat!

Sikhi is not only better, but is the only path which leads one to Wahiguru.

Let us see how or why.

While some offer you gods, godesses. Yet other offer you women if you give your life for the foolish and mad cause, some offers Nirvana.... All that leads to the unending wheel of chaurasee ....

Think a little bit, all that has nothing to do with the One and only Supreme Being, namely  Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

In this way, we can convincingly and humbly say, Sikhee is the path of unconditional love and devotion, to the only One Being, Wahiguru Akal Purukh, and have Him as our sole goal, without any variety of forms, sizes or colors.

Only He, and we, the jeev atmas, thus is only mukti possible, merely through His holy divine Name, not otherwise.

Religion is just a con-struct and a method of control. Please look up esoteric etymology and the etymology of words.

There is a whole world of hidden meanings and deception going on. It's all black magic.

The word 'religion' has roots in Latin meaning 'to bind'.

As we know Sikhi is the opposite as it liberates us so please do not be deceived.

There is so much more but I will only say this much for now.
