i think there must have been some singh archers in the past? i was thinking of taking this up as a hobby. Can anybody recommend any good equipment.

The vidiya of shaster used from 1600-1800s is very important and will be important in the future as well. We don't need advanced military weapons because usually they are used to kill innocent people.

Our aim is self defense. You can always make arrows and keep your sarbloh shaster on you whereas a gun only lasts for so long. Wrestling and h and to hand combat is important too.

With that said, does anyone know how the bows were made? I really want one. I have a bow at home, but it's more of a european style bow that doesn't have nearly as much tension a Soorma's bow would have...

I dont think its too easy to buy lethal long bows. Maybe someone else knows.

But hunting crossbows are legal in the UK and can be bought in some specialist places or on the net, its worth looking into as it depends on how much you are willing to pay and how practical you think they will be.

Archery was the only sport I was fond of when I was a kid !

To be honest , when we were kid , on Sunday mornings , there used to be serials like Mahabharat which is based entirely on war and most common used weapon shown is bow and arrow . After we finished watching the serial , we would go out and make miniature ones for ourselves and our parents were pisssed off by that and my mom used to say me " kissi da aakh ukh na kadd deo "

I use to summon Divya Astar (or pretend to anyway) from the heavens. It was like a 12inch twig that I'd throw away quickly when sending it back to "heaven". My dad use to watch me, tutting and shaking his head and threatening to stop me from watching Mahabharat. :laugh2: I was 6 years old at the time so I guess the nonsense on my part was kind of acceptable.
