I think you guys are being disgracefuly unfair. Whats her crime ? She made a documentary, for which she had little control, that did not go nowhere near far enough as we would have liked. Thats her crime. She hasn't made a porno. She hasn't been seen stumbling out of nightclubs drunk in the wee hours. She hasn't robbed an old lady. If anything she's been extremely honest about what she said after the documentary about having a yearning to get closer to her sikh identity. If she'd gone the other way and got a job with an adult channel you'd be criticising her for not working for sikhi instead. But now that she has taken a job with sikhi in mind....even though she has the experience and attractiveness to be able to land a job in the mainstream media....she still gets criticised by sikhs. I honestly feel very uneasy that a sister doing something good should have to read some of the comments here. I realy don't understand what her critics want. Would you be happier if she presented one of the nightime gambling shows on ITV2?

I think she has a more sinister motive. Her father is a well known Congress party supporter in Birmingham. She described her father as her rock in the programme and portrayed Sant Ji in a negative light. The Congress party is akin to the Nazi party for Sikhs. She knew perfectly well what she was doing.

You've not listened to her shows since day one. Any Asian that dares suggest to her that we shouldn't frequent nightclubs or drink alcohol is treated like a member of the Taliban. She is an advocate of clubbing, drinking and relationships before marriage. Her attitude towards traditional Sikhs stinks. I've been listening to her since her days on local radio when I was about 10 or 11 and she really isn't as cool as some people think she is. My dislike for her stems from her attitude and her activities in her private life (from what she manages to let slip on her radio shows). No irrational hatred on this end.

Yes, I am of the school of thought that thinks men should behave as they want their sisters and potential partners to behave so no double standards from me.

If she promotes the clubbing, pubbing type of attitude then we dont need these so called "modern" fake Sikhs presenting for our community. I dont mind a sahejdhari Sikh lady or man presenting on there as long as they are not hypocrities and live according to Sikh ethics and values. Otherwise what kinda channel will it become? a free for all? Needs to promote things that make society a better place and away from intoxicants and vice.

Well you know what....as a Londoner I only know her as the "pretty news anchor from BBC News 24" from a few years ago.....and of course the documentary. You Midlands lot obviously know her and of her alot better so I can only take your word for it.

But this ? :

She is a fake it's all for show, fame and money!

Is the money really that good at Sangat TV ?

As for 'fame', given that Sangat's worldwide fame only started at midnight last night, does she really have such great supernatural powers that she was able to predict what was going to happen 12 hours earlier ?

As for 'show', when someone swaps the most respected broadcaster on the planet for sangat Tv do you really think its something to show off about ?....or do you think there's actually something quite humbling about it ?

What is Sangat TV thinking...seriously...i mean Sonia Deol!

Sangat Tv...i'm just disgusted!!!!

This women made the most unbiased film on what was called 'The Sikh Story'...more like 'Sonia's Story'.

Sangat TV...is the sangat's channel and as a result shopud remove Sonia from the screen. Get another other non-kesadhari...thats not a problem...but not her!

Sonia Deol & Tommy Nagra should never be allowed any platform on any Sikh TV Channel.

Do you seriously think that her jump to Sangat TV at the exact moment that it became internationally famous and the traditional news channels were being criticised for their lack of comparable cover is a coincidence? That she had a sudden altruistic desire to serve the community she previously insulted?

I think this is a disgusting gambit by her to further her career, to present herself as some sort of authority on Sikh matters. I'm sure this will help to erase the mark on her career at the BBC from the criticism she recieved from the Sikh sangat for her documentary.

K.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
