Mata Sahib Kaur Academy Is Apparently Shutting Down

Ive been at the academy from the start ... I remeber painting the doors and when the Darbar Sahib was being built

I got all my TRUE sikhi from The Mata Sahib Kaur Sikh Academy ! The academy gave us such a Sikhi that no other Gurudwara offered with Guru maharaj's kirpaa At the academy me and so many others took Amrit with Waheguru'S kIrpa ! In other Guru'kars in the kids eyes especially the Singhni'ya ( i use to think like this aswell ) But we all used to think and some still do that Singhni dont have a equal right ddoing Seva ...

in the Academy Singhni are put on higer level beacause thier is NO KHALSA WITHOUT SINGHNI !

How is this situation going to resolve itself? When the academy needs cash, will the students flood Sikhsangat and ask for donations every time? That's not the way to run an educational institution nevermind a place of worship.

There needs to be a proper plan in-place from people who know what they're doing. Guilt-tripping the sangat (I'm sorry but thats what's going on) is just wrong.

Every Bani from Sri Japji Sahib to Raag Mala is a part ofout king of kings...

Every shabad from Ik Onkaar to Attaran Das Bees is a part ofour eternal guru...

Today we cannot have a ten minute conversation withoutcalling Guru Ji 'IT".

Look at our glorious history what does it show...

During the horrific days of November 1984, where our trueguru was thrown out of their own houses and burnt, they sacrificed themselvesover 2,500 TIMES for us...

Not too long ago, here in the UK in March 2009 a Gurdwara inHarley Grove, Bow, East London was burnt to the ground and with it was theentire sachkand complex of the building. This resulted in many Gutka Sahibs and11 saroops of our true guru being burnt. With Maharaj's kirpa the Antham Sanskaarof these saroops was carried out in East London and then the pavitar ashes orour guru sahibs were joined up with pramatamaa

Just look at how glorious our panth was back in the day,where it was AWAKE and an example of this was seen during the 1960's.

On the 11th September 1959 at Gurdwara Akhand PrakashVillage Bhindar Kalan (Damdami Taksal), great Sant Mahapurkhs held an urgentmeeting regarding the changing of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Jee's Mangals by theSGPC. These great souls of the panth would not tolerate the Beadbi of oureternal guru and stopped it happening. Some of the Mahapurkhs present at themeeting include :

What a sad state of affairs. You see this is the problem when a community doesnt feel it has a stake in any buildings or projects undertaken by a section of the community you dont get the help you require it when it all goes wrong because I never knew this acdemy existed till now. And this deadline of handing keys over, why has the community just been notified now when there was ample oppertunity to put forward a plan to rescue the building before it got to the deadline.

We need to ask questions, but also try to stop any way we can hand back of keys through legal means. Is there anyone here who works in legal services that can suggest a way repossesion of the property can be stopped or temporarly halted? It is a place of worship and can if we wanted to get thousands of Sikhs down there to make a point and not let any one take possession of it.

I am going to take a huge guess here...

Group of sikh activist wanted to do something good for local sikh community and they actually did very good job in establishing a small school/gurmat center for Sikh kids. They found a place and then started the process which involves loan approval, downpayment and good credit/income history and so on. One singh offered to put his house on stake in order to secure huge amount of loan and was promised by various individuals (sangat) that gurmat center itself will be able to take care of the monthly payments.

1 million pound is like somewhere 1.7 million us dollars and judging from that figure i guess monthly payment is around or easily above $8K a month. Later on.. gurmat school started getting shorter on funds and missed monthly payments? They reached the stage where it is hard to come back unless someone gives immediate huge sum or whole community come together to pay off. Somehow that happened but in smaller scale.

Now, still short of money, can't keep up with monthly payments is making loan holder (singh) to figure out something; which means to sell the property. This is no fault of Singh but he is the one who is getting burned by bank and it is not easy for a family person to loose a house and decade of bad rep on his credit history. It eventually will put his life upside down. I am assuming that this happened but don't know what situation is..

If bank is taking over the property and asking for keys is another thingy (which means that loan holder singh already got burned).

How to avoid such things:

- Never expect anything from sikh/punjabi community. We talk big but don't give a dime back. Yeh, maybe few ppl do give money but such projects requires input from EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL and then only we will be @ success.

- Need financial backing. There should be a program and universal hub which takes/collect money from sikhs and spend wisely on sikh projects. Example: Group of sikhs can open a strictly non-profit insurance company and get all hundreds of thousands of sikhs as insurance holder (car, house, business) etc.. If you have over 100K isnurance holders, i am sure that organization will be making over 20 to 30 grand a month? This is one simple small example on how sikh community as collective effort can work to gain something: Jobs for sikhs and money for more sikh projects.

Every individual should make some effort to give daswand.. not 1 out of 50 but 50 out 50.. This is what our forefathers used to do back in days and it is our guru sahib jee who established daasvandh rule.. Think about it !!

Back in late 90's, I was having discussion about christian private church near my house with my teacher and found that every family/member of that church gives $300/month for sunday school activities. That shows the dedication of the family members who wants their kids to learn about their religion. Compare to them we are freeloaders..

The loan may have been an interest only loan hence only the bank profited. I don't think any 1 individual has benefited.

In the past when a Gurdwara has been in this position sangat puts up houses to save the Guru Ghar. Being a recession maybe it is more difficult for anyone to do this at present.

Why is it that there are many Guru Ghars where we all know Comittees are profitting and we do nothing about it. Instead here you have someone who put up his property and we are accusing him of wrong doing?
