Guru Sahib died defending rituals of the hindus - true, however we should remember, the hindu rituals did not involve causing bloodshed of any sort.

We should further remember SatGuru Amar Das Sahib refused to have veiled women in sangat.

Personally im a vegeterian and dont eat outside, but some of you may be interested to know that in many subways in the UK the Ham isnt not actually Ham, its halal turkey that has been dyed pink. Halal meat is served in a huge amount of places, and customers are totally unaware. This is against consumer rights and possibly tthe religious beliefs of others. If meat is halal, customers should be clearly informed.

You're oblivious to alot. Educate yourself before typing crap. Gurbani talks of respecting other Faiths and there rituals as silly as they are to us. Scientists have said it's less painful for the animal to be prepared in a Kosher/Halal way.

They have a right, so who the hell are you and others to say to ban it.

Gi▫ān ḏẖi▫ān kacẖẖ sūjẖai nāhī cẖaṯur kahāvai pāʼnde.

You know nothing of spiritual wisdom and meditation, even though you call yourself clever, O religious scholar.

ਮਾਸੁ ਪੁਰਾਣੀ ਮਾਸੁ ਕਤੇਬੀ ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਿ ਮਾਸੁ ਕਮਾਣਾ ॥

Mās purāṇī mās ketābīʼn cẖahu jug mās kamāṇā.

Meat is allowed in the Puraanas, meat is allowed in the Bible and the Koran. Throughout the four ages, meat has been used.

>ਜਜਿ ਕਾਜਿ ਵੀਆਹਿ ਸੁਹਾਵੈ ਓਥੈ ਮਾਸੁ ਸਮਾਣਾ

Jaj kāj vī▫āhi suhāvai othai mās samāṇā.

It is featured in sacred feasts and marriage festivities; meat is used in them.

hmm well i see a lot of different opinions by the sangat here, but mainly i think most people here think that this is not such a bad thing and that it is not comparible to guru teg bahadur and the kashmiri hindus...... im still undecided but im kind of leaning toward supporting the muslims at the moment (but only a little).......

ok consider this hypothetical situation; the duch government suddenly decides that it is illeagal to do a nagar kirthan on viasakhi... now would that be fair? technically it is not a religious requirement for us to do a nagar kirthan so they are not stopping us from being sikhs (just as someone quite rightly pointed out in an earlier post that it is not a requrement for muslims to eat meat and that by banning halal you are not stopping them from being muslims)

please i want to hear everybodies oppinions especially thos of you who have said they support the ban..... please try and convince me!! and guys and girls please keep it peacefull theres no need to get angry about all of this :biggrin2:

Please point a specific incident where our guru sahibaan went to voice or support for a particular subject or issue? Guru sahib jee protected other religion (kashmiri pandit) right to live in India along with other religions. They never went for a specific issue. Imagine guru sahib jee willing to support social evils of other community such as 'sati'??

Sikhs are in full favor for other community to coexist in any country but that doesn't mean we agree or in favor or protect whatever culture, religious thing they have.

Veerji, your signature image simply shows the reality of caste system, but at the same time it is one of the main foundations of Hindu dharma. We agree they are free to practice, live and so on. However, we as a Sikh won't go out and throw a support of having caste system.. Right?

Sometime it is good for us to be on conservative side rather than on liberal side all the time on all issue :) (not talking about political parties)..
