i agree with Beginner...

in general muslims are the first to make trouble for sikhs, they have made several attempts to draw negative attention to the kirpan... they dont support our religious freedoms so why are there members of sikh sangat following in upinder's footsteps?

the halal ban has been looked at from the perspective of infringement on religious freedom (even though a previous user has rightly stated that eating halal meat is not compulsory in islam - this view is also supported by the renowned islambic peacher zakir naik),.... now how about we look at infrigements of animal rights?!..

Not all Muslims agrees with the belief that you can just say bismillah over haram food and all the sudden it becomes halal for you. I know MANY people who only eat halal meat and believe eating meat that wasn't slaughtered Islamically is haram. I'm personally of this persuasion. I guess those people will either have to move to another country or never eat meat again. As for the Jews, it is absolutely required of them to only eat their kosher meat so I feel really bad for them.

There was a time when the muslims wouldnt let sikhs and hindus eat non halal meat. throughout the times of our gurus, even upto pre-partition panjab.

A sikh from afghan told me that they were banned from killing animals non halal method as well.

so i personally wouldnt worry much if they were banned from doing halal. it should give them a minute to think about how they behave against minorities.

Are the Muslims in Europe responsible for the actions of Muslims in Afghanistan? Are Sikhs in America responsible for Sikhs in India? If Sikhs support the halal/kosher meat ban, they are just as bad as the Muslims they criticize who support jhatka meat ban.

you missed my point. i wasnt saying that any meat is halal providing they say bismillah over it.

my point was, that if halal meat is not available, there are other non meat foods they can eat. - although muslims can eat halal meat, they do not have to, it is not a requiremnet that they must eat it. for example, if halal meat is not available, there are other alternatives, such as halal vegetables.

also the video report said they can have halal imported (frozen). halal (hopefully) will only be banned in the country. i think thats very fair. im not about to cry a river.

Muslims are suppose to eat the slaughtered meat on Eid. Will they ban that too...? (I'm being serious here.)

This is a typical response from Muslims, they want all the benefits and rights in the west but either feign ignorance of the discrimination that non-Muslims face daily in Muslim countries or like you did just claim that they are not responsible for the actions of Muslims in Islamic countries. This is hypocrisy at it's very worst. Where is their belief in the global Ummah? Why do Muslims in the UK burn poppies and UK and USA flags because these countries are in Iraq and Afghanistan?

What do you suppose I do...? How am I responsible for people I've have never met, people I have nothing in common with except the label 'Muslim'?
