Last official update on 21 November, 2011 6:00PM ET was:

No 1: United Sikhs: 19, 645 votes

No 2: Villalobos Rescue Center: 15,118 votes

United Sikhs 4, 527 votes ahead

The Villalobos Rescue Center have closed the gap slightly, but United Sikhs are now getting more votes with the UK/Europe effect and with less than 9.5 hours left 1st place looks almost certain. WOuld expect lead to increase to around 5,000 in the next 5-6 hours.

On behalf of UNITED SIKHS:

THANK YOU all volunteers and supporters - the voting has officially ended with UNITED SIKHS in the number one position, where you wanted to see it. As we wait for the official announcement, we cannot wait to thank you. These have been 2 amazing weeks for all of us - you and your families - as we hit the road, real people talking to real people, using social media technology for a good cause! We sincerely appreciate the time and effort everyone put into it, adhering to the Program Rules.

Participating itself has been a learning experience about the passion we bring to help the needy and the wonderful work that other charities do and the various causes they work for. We thank all other Charities who participated as well for the kind words and we wish you success too - the world is a wonderful place because of the selfless work by Volunteers for the charities they work with. THANK YOU!

It has been confirmed that United Sikhs were first with 22,685 votes and will receive $250,000. The charity that was second had 17,716 votes - a victory margin of nearly 5,000.

The Sikh Federation (UK) were approached late last Friday and delighted to assist United Sikhs along with others to use our extensive contacts on Facebook and elsewhere to move United Sikhs from second place around 900 votes behind to first place with a significant margin of victory.

In fact United Sikhs received over 14,000 votes in the last 3 days and if there is a lesson to learn is we should come together more often and not leave it to the last minute.
