Are There Any Arab Sikhs?

Karta Singh Khalsa is a sikh of moroccan/arabic speaking background.

He has an ashram in south france, where there possibly may be a number of other franch sikhs of moroccan descent.

But if anyone would like to offer the sikh way of life to arabs, france may be the most suitable place initially.

Tunisia may also be suitable, and potentially in egypt amongst coptic/arab christians.

Thats just my two cents.

no i dont mean individuals who have converted out of their own free will...i mean whole communitys of sikhs...if im not mistaken guru nanak dev ji estabalished a sikh community when he passed through iraq...

In Islam , apostasy carries death penalty . this is especially inforced in saudi arabia .

It always baffles me why there are no gurdwaras in saudi .

They may have existed , but muslims brought them down perhaps .

Islamic law is not one unified code, but it is accepted by most fuqaha (islamic jurists) that in dar ul islaam (islamic territories) people of non-muslim religions should not be allowed to build new temples or religious centres, and those that were created prior to islamic rule should not be maintained or fixed. As a result it is unlikely that there ever was Gurdwaray in Saudi, since the state has been run along strict salafi (literalist/fundamentalist) islaam for the last 150 years or so. But that is just speculation based on dogmatic lines; maybe there was a few somewhere at some stage and a blind eye was turned to. However, it is possible that there are a few in the United Arab Emirates (especially likely in Dubai).

Check out gurdwaradubai.com, I saw ages ago I animated video on youtube about a new gurdwara in Dubai. Didn't know if it was true. In Nov I was there. Yes, it is true and the youtube video is accurate. They were still in the last stages of the construction phase. MehtabSingh started a thread recently with pics on this site.

The website states the sheik as a benefactor. But I think it was just permission, the gurdwara is self funded having spoken to Singhs in Dubai.
