any martial arts will take you to a level but its not the art form but how much your abyaas is that will make you a good fighter.

Frank Dux learnt Karate and i know nowadays karate is not that rated but Frank Dux could do a side kick at 17mph. So my point is its not the art form but how good you are and you develop. You don't have to learn any form of martial arts you dont have to go to classes and have a teacher you can develop at home and become good alls you need is motivation and perspiration to become fitter and stronger. Bruce Lee once said i don't fear that person who know a 100 different kicks. I fear that person who knows one kick but has practiced it a thousand times.

Learn Judo plus boxing so you can mix them both together and become an all rounder in fighting. Plus Judo and Boxing are probably the cheapest martial arts to learn price wise and extremely effective in a real street fight. While Judo takes some time to learn but boxing is fairly easy to learn and one can get a hang of it in a few months. One should practice over and over what they learn daily. Other martial arts are good like BJJ and Muay Thai but these two are very expensive.

Doing Dand Baithak and pull ups should also be included into your daily workout if you want explosive strength.

I am just surprised that shastar vidya (sikh very much used) is not mentioned in this thread rather than outside martial art is mentioned. Whilst, all martial arts are good and pojan jog, sikh should follow vidya which was used in puratan times.

Just because people don't agree with current shastar vidya teacher, does not make the vidya itself impure or less important. That's like saying- i don't agree with math teacher, mathematics itself is bad.

Martial arts like shastar viday and kung fu were effective before but other martial arts have evolved and come up that are far more advanced

I've done kung fu you can't compare kung fu to muay thai cause a muay thai fighter will break your skull with one kick

Martial arts like muay thai have surpassed kung fu and shastar vidya

Same with wrestling and wrestling is a old martial art

I dont agree that martial arts have evolved...it's the opposite, they have become watered down and commercialised most have lost their "lethal" edge and many classes are just there to milk money out of people without actually teaching any street effective techniques.

Even though Krav Maga is mentioned quite often...you wont easily find a teacher that will teach you proper Krav...You really need to find ex-israeil army staff if you want to learn properly dont go to commercial classes.

There are very few arts which still maintan combat effectiveness not based on set techniques... the filipino arts are a good starting point Panantukan (hands free version of Eskrima), Eskrima (blades and edged weapons), Kali (sticks), Silat, BJJ for grappling, Arnis.

Ultimatey any martial art comes down to the student putting in the dedication and traIning.

I see the below quoted in a previous post ... "Martial arts like muay thai have surpassed kung fu and shastar vidya

Same with wrestling and wrestling is a old martial art"

How exactly do you quantify backup that statement when Shastar Vidiya, incorporates all manner of hands free striking, grappling, joint locks, small join manipuloation, weapons from sticks, small edged weapons, larger bladed weapons, spears, mace etc etc...fighting multiples, formation fighting, battle strategy etc...

How exactly does Muay Thai which is almost completey standing and striking based...compete with a complete systems which also incorporate weapons ??
