Has anyone here been in any awkward or uncomfortable situations with weirdo strangers? How did you deal with it?

I'm a uni student living away from home and there's a person I have to see every day on my way in who has made some odd/slightly creepy comments. And now he has a staring problem and keeps making excuses to approach me.

I'm quite sensitive and easily upset so maybe I'm overreacting but I just feel really rubbish and alone. Don't know how to handle the situation.

Any advice would be great. Thanks.

This probably happens to heck of a lot of us bibiya. Try not to be alone; go home in a group walk to lectures in a group; do everything that involves there been a chance of u seeing that person in a group. That way hell get the message that your NOT alone! Then hell back off trust me alternatively get some older singhs to talk to him to leave their sister alone. If your sikh soc @ uni has a approachable reps tell them what's happening as it might help you feel more comfortable. Best of luck jeo

There isn't anyone that I can walk with, all my friends come a different way from me..and I don't want to make this into a big deal by telling people, I'd rather just deal with it on my own but I don't know how? I don't know whether I should say something to him because I'll probably look really stupid and people will think I'm being dramatic.

Yeah it does happen to girls a lot, my friends have had full on stalkers so thank God it's not like that.

Just ignore it, if he approaches you be the confident Singhnia that you are and ignore him or just say so no thank you and keep on walking. Such is life, but you just need to show this person that you are not afraid of his presence. This will keep on happening, you just need to find your inner strength. Besides kirpan (if you are amritdhari), please carry some sort of self-defense stuff on you like taser or pepper spray. i bought my sister bunch of pepper spray when she went away for studies [even though she was 2nd LT us soldier for 2 years but still safety is important].

Make sure tasers are legal in your country and keep in mind that pepper spray got expiry dates.

Both tasers/stun guns and pepper spray are illegal in the UK. If I'm caught, even with pepper spray, I will be charged with carrying an offensive weapon..

As nice as this is, it also does nothing to empower the Bhenji to know that she can handle this situation on herself. Yes, it is good to know that our Bhaji's/Singhs are around if/when but I don't know this person however being a Sikh I know she has the strength and courage to overcome this. Women have a lot of strength please do not underestimate this.
