You don't seem to have a basic understanding of genetics.

I have as much of my father's "stock" as I do of my mother's. Going back, my Nana, Nani, Dada, and Dadi comprise an equal part of my ancestry. We can then go back to my 8 great-grandparents. 8 different surnames, all an equal part of my ancestry. So if my last name is Smith and I have a great-grandfather with the last name Brown, I share as much blood with a member of the Brown clan as I do with a member of the Smith clan.

Actually we inherit more DNA from our mother as the DNA in out mithocondria are maternal . With that said my parents shared the same surname before marriage and was of course not related. Lo and behold I turned out ok.

Original poster, it depends on your background 'grouping'. Among the urban groupings of Sikhs cousin marriage along muslim lines is common. Amongst the rural Sikh groupings, however, not only are the marriage practices of the urban sikhs seen as disgusting and sickening but marriage within the same goth is incest. You come from different villages because each clan expanded and founded other villages as it grew. Your jathera, however, will be the same. Marry him if you like, as long as you are comfortable with the fact that the majority of Sikhs will always see you as being in a disgusting, vomit inducing, incesteous relationship.

Hi all, I badly need some help here!

I'm dating a guy who shares the same goth as me. I tried asking around to my relatives and so, they said its not right because we are siblings. I don't get it, how are we siblings when we come from a different pind (village)? On the other hand, my brother in law tells me there is no such thing written in our Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji..

I'm really confused on What is What!! Will I be going against our Guruji's teaching if I continue with this relationship?

Please advise me and give me more information regarding this matter. Thank you very much in advance!

i'm sorry, but i dont agree with this at all. Where does it say that we should "gamble" our lives away? Is it really Gurmat to pick out parchees for every decision we make? Should we not use our logic and reasoning to find solutions to our problems? Where did this tradition begin? I'm sorry, but I can't see it as being good for us to pick parchees to make decisions in our lives. Instead we should use our bibek budhi to solve our problems.

ye u shud not marry ny1 from the goth sa ur mother frandmother nanee and so on , as long as 7-8 generations back , it also makes the kid more smart and more dna , the samedna like brother marrrying a sister can get the kid really smart or realy messed up ,

I know that many afghan sikhs and some indian khatri sikhs marry cousins. Also, a khatri punjabi, Karishma Kapoor married same goth. There are also historical accounts from punjabi kshatriya people like in Maharbharat.

Incidentally, British royal family seems to marry close family as well.
