**very Important** Ipledgeorange ** 100,000 Signatures For Justice For Balwant Singh Rajoana **

Recommended Posts

Bros/Sisters perhaps the reason why people are not signing the petition is because it is inaccurate and out of date:

It reads:

'Codemn India for hanging Bhai Balwant Singh Rajoana on 31st March 2012 at 9 am in Patiala Punjab jail. Bhai Bhai Balwant Singh refuses to plea for clemency from the killers of the Sikh Nation. There has been no justice for the Sikh Genocide in 1984 by the Indian State. Bhai Balwant Singh has lost all faith in the Indian judiciary. India is not a democratic state has it crushes the voice of its minority citizens.'

Aside from the easy to do typos, as we all know - the date of 31 March has passed and Bhai Sahib has not been hanged. This makes the petition inaccurate and so will make us look like a bit foolish if it lead to a discussion in Parliament.

I dont mean to undermine the seva done by the individual who started the petition but just outline how we have to be much sharper and perhaps not rush such things. Can I suggest that whoever started it stops this petiton and starts a new one with a changed phrasology- rather than someone else start a new one - as that will make us look dis-united.

I sincerely apologise to anyone who may be offended by my post.

Is there anyway the existing petition can me amended or the existing signatures added to the new petition you suggest? Or is the only option to start a new petition all over again? If it's pointless continuing with the current petition due to it being inaccurate and out of date as you say, then we may as well save our energy, as you suggest!

Well spotted!

Apparently it took the whole kaum nationwide to raise a measly 9000 signatures. Less than 10% of what's needed. Do you really think Starting a new one will even reach that many.

Our problem is we Are lazy, not politically astute and our youth have no actions to back up words.

Harsh words perhaps, but I pray I am proved wrong

My understanding is that an e-petition was started, and which if it had a 100, 000 signatures, would be discussed by a Parliamentary committee and if they decided it was in the interst of the nation, the issue would be discussed in Parliament via a debate (i have been told by this by a person who works closely with politicans and civil servants )

However we only had just over 9,000 signatures. What happened to this ?

We then had a paper petition started and the 'Kesri Lehar' linked to this. The information given again was inaccurate that if we get 100,000 signatures a debate had to happen in Parliament, which is not True. So the Sikh communities 'hopes' have been built up on iaccurate information. This just show a lack of coordination and people just deciding to do things wothoput doing some research or speaking to Sikhs who have experience of such things.

However the positive impact of the Kesri Lehar and petition is the galvanising of the Sikh community and raising awarness of injustices being faced by the Sikhs by all. It is important that we use the full impact of 100, 000 signatures to engage with the British Government. Suggest that those leading meet up with existing Sikh Organisations working in this 'field' to maximise impact.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
