Most damage is done by those who have trivialized the sikh religion as list of Do's and don'ts !

I hear it all the time "you ain't a gursikh coz u got no kes!" or "this failana banda is a manmukh"

We have failed to understand the difference between sikhism and khalsa ,

I always say the best comparison of sikhism and khalsa is like that of a rose and thorn .

A rose is beautiful and fragrant which attracts everyone , the good ones who like to smell it and the bad ones who wanna pluck it . A rose without thorn is useless , because thorn is a deterrent for rose-pluckers . It safeguards the rose , but yet thorns without rose is of no value !

Sikhism is the rose which attracts the good who wish to learn from it and the bad ones like abdali , etc who wanted to pluck it off . Khalsa was/is the thorn which safeguarded this rose ...

One is of no use without another . So Khalsas are the dedicated sikhs who have vowed their life (sees ) to the protection of this rose ( sikhi) but that doesn't mean people who cut their hair , nirmales , udasis , etc are not sikhs ...

We need to realize sikhi is far more than the 5 Ks . 5 Ks is the vardi of the soldier who protects sikhi , but sikhi is much deeper than this vardi ! trust me ....

Aside from external forces I'd say we are the biggest cause of our own misery on a micro level. We tend to gravitate towards making the wrong decisions time-after-time.

You could argue that if we were resolute in our adherence to the faith, problems like drugs, the dera culture, basically anything or anyone who is clearly not good for Sikh interests should have been ignored and ostracised. But we don't do that.

Khalsa Ji

This is what does the most damage.............

ਕਤਿਕਿ

Kaṯik karam kamāvṇe ḏos na kāhū jog.

In the month of Katak, do good deeds. Do not try to blame anyone else.

Parmesar ṯe bẖuli▫āʼn vi▫āpan sabẖe rog.

Forgetting the Transcendent Lord, all sorts of illnesses are contracted.

the real cause is that we have forgotten to study guru granth sahib and incorporate it in our lives ....

99.99% of sikh panth today is SGGS illetrate ....

Instead of shabda guru we have a pustak guru ....

(FROM SGGS)

Guru jina ka andhla chele nahi thav

&

Guru Jina ka andla sikh bhi andhe karam kare

Sikhs think its enough to do Chavar, prakash, sukhasan, akhand path, parikrama and matha taken ... no need to study what guru wants to say ... much less act upon it

THe ppl who have done the biggest damage 2 sikhi , is without a doubt PAPPU SIKHS! pappus r the reason why, when sikhs wake-up n become militant, the pappu sikhs start crying that we r becoming too violent etc. When the fact that most of us wudnt b around today, had it not been our ancestors pickin up swords! Classic one is how bhindrawale had weapons inside golden temple etc, when guru hargobind did the exact same thing!

Sant Bhindranwale was never a Khalistani, he was made into one , as were majority of Khalistanis after bluestar.

In our history we have had very very powerful external enemies, but we have survived as the sikhs were dedicated to sikhi. Now as our dedication decreases, powerful enemies seem unbeatable.

why the decline in sikhi?

no 1 reason, Gurdwaras have lost thier way, and lost the plot, of whatthey are axtually there for.

The biggest GADARS that caused damage and division to Sikhism are those who believe in CASTE especially those KU%JARS who want CHAUDER in Gurdwaras and those moronic leaders who did not break-away from India during 1947 AND told DR Ambedkar that Chamar and Churey had to be Ravidassia sikh / Mezhbie sikhs and that's why he chose Buddhism because he knew the then Sikh's would never accept them as equals. Like another thread on this forum the best we can do is unite ALL Gurdwaras under one Nishan Sahib = The KHALSA

I am ANGRY the more and more I learn about the sell-outs in our community and the fake history that has been sold to us.

He shudda jus converted, but sorry 2 say, the jatt leaders, who feared that jatts would then become a minority tribe in sikhi wud sum how suffer!! WHO GIVES A EFF what tribe u belong 2, aslong as we r sikhs, end of! Had the jatt leaders said "YESS DALIT PAAJIS OF INDIA, welcome 2 sikhi", then our population would been over 120m+ today!

The 'Ambedkar / Dalit' situation is one of the handful of moments in our history that makes my heart sink. I actually feel a little bit sick when I think about the missed opportunity.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
