Spreadin Sikhi In Jails

sangat jee , i have got an idea bout sprednin sikhi . u no how they say that gangsters , drug dealers , criminals make the best gursikhs , wellthen y dont we do preachar in jails . i hv heard that gursikhs r already doing this in the UK, that is very good . i saw somthn bout buddhist doing this to . think bout it if we do preachar in jail to punjabi people who hve gone the wrog way , we can get gursikhs . we can get 1 n then 2 ,10,20, 100, 1000 etc and then even other faiths will probably convert after studying our religon . u getto change a person from a criminal to a gursikh . but if u want ppl to listen to u u need to have some spiritual kamaaee and do katha in english . wat do u guys think ?

Muslims are already ahead in this game, in fact everyone is. It seems Sikhs are the only ones who have not done this. It is a good idea. Criminals are in the need of Gurmat more so than nonCriminals. In our own history we have the examples of former criminals like Sajjan Thag, Bhai Bidi Chand becoming Gursikhs. Many Saints have a past and every sinner has a future.

I know they have libraries and whatnot but what other ways are there to do it? Perhaps arrange speeches or seminars with the warden? The jails in USA are run as businesses and are probably by conservative christians.

how bout u no som1 related to u in jail or sombody u no that has som1 in jail , teach them bout sikhi , cant u meet people in jail like visit , . speeches and seminars r a good idea to , but r we allowd to do dat . usa jails r run as businesses , wat if we pay money , how do we get that money ? fudraisers , donations , dasvandh , ....... SGPC . will christians allow it ?

You don't have to pay money to do seminars but you have to convince the people in charge with a platform. Could be an outreach program. My guess is that it has to be an org.

"kidda paaji, long time no speak, yea regarding ur idea, its sumthin i hav always thought about, coz in prison, islam is DOMINANT, thats y those gits r streets ahead of every1. So many ppl in prison become muslim, because their parchaar is EVERYWHERE! In prison, ppl have 23 hours of doing nuthin, but sittin inside a cell, so a lot of that time is spent reading about stuff and educating urself. I saw on sikh channel last time, that a nihang singh was doin parchaar in uk prisons, n i believe Bhai manvir singh, is doing parchaar in prisons/hospitals (forgive me if im wrong on that). But yea we need loads n loads, coz otherwise our boys who r locked up inside cud get converted if they aint careful. Also 2 survive in prison, u MUST b tough (not jus physically), but i guess mentally/spiritually, n only gurbani provides that!"

This a good idea, the Sakhi of Sri Guru Hargobind Ji "Bandi Chorr" provides good example of this how many inmates became followers of the Guru during his stay at Gwalior.
