The LSA is helping Jazmine with her election campaign for the UK Youth Parliament (UKYP), for more info see attached leaflet. Jazmine will be at a number of Gurdwaras this weekend campaigning along with an appearance on the Sikh channel.

RebelSingh, the plan is to ensure that she works on Panthic issues. She has become a member of the LSA (http://www.facebook.com/LeicestershireSikhAlliance) which is a step in the right direction, but whether she actually delivers or not is another matter. Either way we'll keep the sangat posted.

Thats exactly what I wanted to say but didn't wanna spoil the party. I've read through her literature. It is notable for the disctinct lack of any mention of 'sikhs' and 'sikhism'. Politicians, by nature, tend to break their promises after getting elected. This one hasn't even bothered to promise anything pre-election.

Congratulations to Jazmine kaur Mann, who has become the first Sikh representative to be elected into the UK Youth Parliament.

Jazmine won with a landslide majority (count to follow) and she would like to thank all the Sikh religious institutions and individuals who voted for her and facilitated with her campaign.

It just goes to show, that when the community comes together anything is possible.

P.S. Jazmine is only 14! The LSA will be liaising with Jazmine to work on Sikh community initiatives. Progress to follow.
