Maybe it's just how it appears in my ignorance, but is Kirtan dominated contemporarily by male Kirtankara?

Seems like you dont see female Kirtankara, and when you see them it's mainly Simran Kirtan not Shabad Kirtan?

If so, why so?

Other than institutional ban at Sri Harmandir Sahib, I'm not sure what other reason there could be. Perhaps has to do with genuine interest?
