hya i wonder if anyone can give me advice,i have scoured the internet and could only find this site with an active forum for sikh community,i am a mixed race mancunian of no religion.my grandfather who is now deceased was born in lahore in 1917 and moved to manchester in the 1930's i believe.he then married an english(white) woman who took on sikhism and its traditions.they went on to have several children and a business in the community.all the children had arranged marriages including my mother.as time went by the whole family have seperated and become estranged so i am at a loss of my cultural heritage.my mother did not stay in her arranged marriage and went onto divorce and then married my father who is white.towhich i come to the point i am very interested to find out as much as i can about sikhism and general whys and how thing are done.i remember visiting my grandfather before he died in the 90's he had a picture of what i now believe to be guru nanak i know he spoke punjabi and i would like learn it too i also would like to visit his local gudwara but not sure if it woud be acceptable can anyone give me a pointer in the right direction for education in to my history

Hello, nice to see you have an interest in Sikhi, and you have taken the time to find a sikh forum, thats a great effort you have already put in.

You are allowed into any Gurdwara in the world. There are no restrictions to entering, regardless of race, religion gender etc, so pop in to your nearest one.

I would personally say if you want to know about the sikh religion, is to read the main hymn of the Sikhs which is in the Guru Granth Sahib called Japji Sahib.
