How Can I Stop My Husband From Eating Meat?

Recommended Posts

Humans are all made of three gunas- sato, rajo and tamo diet. Based on person previous lives (actions/perception/consciousnesses), each human being is born with mixture of gunas i.e- some naturally have rajo and sato more than tamogun, some have tamo and rajo but hardly any sato etc Most of human have more rajo and tamo than sato. Sikhi teaches rise above from all gunas - khalsa/bhramgyani is above from all gunas and is not confined in gunas ..rise above from gunas in stages- starting slowly going towards satoguni diet (veggie)..you can keep doing ardas...you can may be show slaughter house movie or take him to butcher house tour...hope he can change..!! if that does not work, leave it up to Vahiguroo ji and atleast be glad of whatever you have- accept it as part of your karam.. !!!!

just stick to this and you will be ok.

Well its hard especially at this apartment being smaller than a house with all the smells and live cooking. I tried to ignore it but our kitchen is open to the living room and when i see it i cant stop myself to pass a comment.

Show him a video of how meat got to his plate. They say many people like to eat meat, but would stop if they paid one visit to the slaughter house. The way animals are killed can move the toughest of men to tears. I have a relative who stopped eating meat when he saw a youtube video of an animals being slaughtered.

I will try that. Hopefully it might work for him but i feeling it wont. Thanks

Can you explain the three gunns? I really dont know anything about them. And your right whatever we are doing in this life is due to our past life. So quick question if a person eats meat mow in this life what does that say about his past life? I talked to my parents about it today how I can make him stop but their answer was the same either he does it by himself or Guru jo will do kirpa on him and hopefully he will stop. I guess im just a very impatient person and just want it to stop now. Thanks for the advice!

Show him the puratan maryadas of daal panth and Research the jhatka tradition amongst Sikhs and nihangs. Then also look into why you feel not eating meat is good. After looking at both sides of the equation make up your own mind..

I guess I will try that after looking up all these terms as I have no idea what that is. Thanks

Sorry for late reply but here is an good article on rajo, sato, tamo attributes of human being:

http://www.gurbani.o...les/webart2.htm

From the attributes above, three separate diets are categorized for human being- sato (veggie- simple food), rajo (spicy food rich food), tamo (meat)

Note: Real Khalsa (bhramgyani ) who have merged with Vahiguroo is above from all the gunas...so they can eat meat (Gurparsad bhram ka nash ) not eat meat....there is no paap or paun for them ..they don't have karams left whatsoever they are above from good karams or bad karams (of what we regular joe blow perceive) !!!!.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
