Krishna In Sikhism

Recommended Posts

Interesting replies, I read everyone's and appreciate everyone's perspectives and do agree avtars have no place in Sikhi. However, Guru Sahib does mention them so a Sikh can learn from them. Guru Gobind SIngh Ji makes it clear as JSinghz veerji said that he never remembers ganesh, krishan or any avtar. A GurSikh khalsa who has taken khande batte da amrit and battles panj chor everyday and wakes up for nitnem is infinite times in the court of sachkhand because they consider themselves to be the lowest of the low and constantly fight to control and manage the panj vikaar.

It's interesting to note, there are historical references that show exactly which kinds of wine these avtars used to take. I remember reading in my prehistory class that krishna used to take a wine reserved for the aristocratic rulers called soma and used to indulge in various sexual ventures.

Alright i already clarified the concepts- Avtarvad and Sikhi in pg- 1 and page 2 in the post. People need to read 18 page long analysis with gurbani by tirath singh nirmala in english in the book-bhavrasamrit. Everyone questions will be answered.

**time to sit back in back seat and open up pop corn and gingerale and be ready to watch satguru nanak dev maharaj tamasha/play of this world fold and unfold, hehe..who wants to join? ** :lol2:

Popcorn and gingerale is anti gurmat! Let's debate about it!

Only kidding haha. That sounds good right about now. :stupidme:

Water and laicheeya are all you need. Control your tastebuds, Singhs. :biggrin2:

Leechian - eat just one, i dare you!

It's impossible.

Or do you mean laicheeyan, if so, I love laicheeyan as well. They're natural antibiotics haha.

Thought you meant the fruit.

The first ones, the small ones. :biggrin2: The one you crush up and put in your tea (or use to - I've stopped drinking tea).

I used to think that this shabad is directly devoted to Krishna and i felt really unsatisfied until i heard the 2nd version of katha of same shabad by Sant Gyani Gurbachan Singh ji.

This is what I love about Sant ji. Sant ji always do 2 or more arths of gurbani. 2nd version is katha of nirgun swaroop and even though u see words like krishan, his mother devki, his village bindraban in this shabad and you will wonder how can someone do katha of this shabad not not relate to Krishan at all. You will be surprised when you will listen to the katha below by Sant ji. It is just soooo amazing.

Sunny_love_kirtan veer,

Two arths (Sargun and Nirgun) naturally make sense. However, look at grand scheme of things- from bhramgyani stand point- gurmat is advait- non duality- ONE thats how they perceive it so sargun form of vahiguroo in form of krishan in this case, nirgun paratma are ONE no difference. Naturally, we jaigaso would prefer nirgun svaroop arths as we ourselves trying to get their birthi from sargun to nirgun. However, as i said earlier there will be stage in everyone's life as they grow spiritually where one does not feel "unsatisfied' anymore..sargun and nirgun are one!!!!! Only way to feel that and live in it is - bhramgyan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
