LONDON: Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will carry the London Olympic torch here on Thursday, a day before the opening ceremony of the Games.

The actor will be part of the relay team which will carry the torch.

Bachchan, 69, tweeted that he would be carrying the Torch in London tomorrow at 10.30am.

"OK !! HERE IT IS : Have been invited by London Olympic Organizing Committee to carry the torch in the relay tomorrow ...," Bachchan tweeted.

"Honored to be asked to carry the Olympic Torch in London at Southwark around 10:30 AM !! A proud moment for me and country," he added.

Bachchan is not the only celebrity to lend the Indian touch to the mega gaming event. Indian music maestro A R Rahman has teamed up with his 'Slumdog Millionaire' director Danny Boyle to compose a track for the inaugural event.

"Clarifying the report on the Olympics track I am composing... It's a track in Punjabi celebrating the Indian influence in the UK. It's a part of a medley in the Olympics opening ceremony, according to Danny Boyle's creative wishes!," Rahman had written on his Facebook page.

Illaiyaraaja's song is also set to feature in the medley of music tracks to be used in the inaugural programme.

London, England (July 26, 2012)–Indian superstar, Amitabh Bachan, whom victims of the 1984 anti-Sikh genocide in Delhi claim instigated mob violence against Sikhs, held the Olympic torch today at an event which took place in London.

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan carried the Olympic torch amid loud cheers from hundreds of his fans at Southwark, a day before the opening ceremony. Amongst the loud cheers, some members of the Sikh community of North and East London gathered to protest against an alleged criminal responsible for genocide crimes being allowed to come to this country.

Sikh crowds shouted out, “Murderer! Murderer! You will be exposed!”

From the photograph, Amitabh was clearly shaken, hearing the shouting slogans of the small group of protesting Sikhs.

During the 1984 Sikh Genocide, Amitabh Bachchan was shown on national Indian television inciting people to kill Sikhs after the assassination of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.

He said, “Sikhs had not only assassinated Indira Gandhi, they had killed the mother of the nation.”

He raised the slogan “Khoon ke chheente Indira ko marne walon ke gharon tak pahunchne chahiye” (The bloodstains must reach the houses of those who killed Indira).

When Bhai Fauja Singh carried the torch, no indian newspaper did the coverage at all except Punjabi Newspaper "Ajit", who posted his photo on front page. Let see will amitab make the front page of indian newspapers.

What makes you think. he won't.

Of course, he will. What else you except from the biased indian press?
